Am I the first English reviewer of Le Cottage? We happened to pass here several times walking to our hotel after meandering around Paris for the afternoon, and my wife and I had to try it. We walked in to make a reservation, and a very pleasant man greeted us and took our reservation, not writing anything down, and letting us know he would remember us. The next night we arrived at this quaint one man operation restaurant. The pleasant gentleman runs the place solo. He his host, waiter, chef, and any other role he needs to be. The restaurant space couldn’t be any more cozy. It feels as if you are in his living room as he greats you with a glass of champagne as he sits you at one of maybe 5 tables. The food is classic French, with Indian influence. I started with a pâté of chicken and salad that was just perfect. The pâté was delicate and refined, and not heavy on the palate. My wife had samosas which were exceptional. For entrees I had ordered lamb meatballs in a spicy curry sauce with jasmine rice, My wife had the roasted chicken. I can not recommend the meatballs enough and the roasted chicken was perfectly executed. For dessert we had a fig tart. The wine list was short, but had all the necessities. We chose something nice from Saint-Emilion. Le Cottage is a great place to experience a tiny little restaurant on a Paris side street. I feel bad for forgetting the owner’s name, but he is definitely some one to visit in Paris.
