Probably the worst parisian café. In my opinion coffee is disgusting and food worst. A pity for poor tourists in Paris

Wondered in and found a delightful cozy location with great food and superb staff. Our waiter was friendly and helpful ordering our meal with great recommendations. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the chicken with mushroom sauce was too die for. Wondering in Paris is rewarding especially when you come upon a gem like le Solferino. Ask for Jeramie if you are lucky to have him serve you.

DONOTGOHERE! The waitstaff is HORRIBLE and RUDE. First, we waited forever to get a server, then they refused to serve my mother and I because we did not want to order any alcohol… the EXTREMELY rude waiter said it was«the boss’ policy». There are many lovely cafes in Paris with exquisite food AND service. As this is not one of those cafes, don’t waste your time here.

Terrible service, terrible food, shocking prices. It took forever for them to serve us, at 7pm and it was not very busy. The slow indifferent service, combined with dry, barely edible chicken and rubbery steak was bad enough, but € 12 for a pint of Heineken makes it all seem like a bad joke.

This café was just down the street from or apartment, so we went most mornings for a café and croissant. The coffee was fine, some days it was hotter than others so I think it just depends on the time you arrive. Cute little, typical, French corner café. Lots of fun seeing everybody head to work in the morning and watch the city come to life.

The waiter was nice. If all you want is an English speaker, and don’t mind mediocre food which is over priced, then this place is ideal. We spent WAY too much on our dinner and were completely disappointed in the food. Shame on me for not checking reviews first.

Awful. Brie was spoiled and they tried to say we had no idea what it was supposed to taste like. Made us pay for it anyways. French onion soup was burned and the worst I had in Paris so far. Avoid it even if desperate.

This place was a disappointment. It looks good but then you see the Unilocal reviews and think it can’t be that bad. Please listen to Unilocal haha.

Good location but that’s about it. Exceptionally long wait for service. Food quality was horrible. Prices rather high. Would not visit this restaurant again.

This is the lowest quality food we had while in Paris, and sadly at the same high prices you’ll find in the many other tourist district cafes and brasseries. It’s your usual absurdly high museum district prices applied to the cheapest ingredients possible in dishes that are either pre-made and then microwaved or at best assembled hastily by a cook who could care less. To give you an idea, their ample 8-page menu is printed and laminated into a depressing booklet a la Applebees, and you can immediately see they are striving for volume instead of quality. Indeed my ham and cheese crêpe was skimpy and and lacking in any kind of taste, accompanied by some dry lettuce and a big slice of hothouse tomato(they called this a salad). My boyfriend ordered a € 7 «mixed sandwich» and pointed directly to it on the menu to show our server(which she acknowledged), then later found out that she had brought him(and charged him for) the much pricier € 14 version of the same dish, which presumably costs more because it comes with«better» bread(read: plain bun with some herbs in it instead of a baguette) and soft steakhouse-style French fries that belong in the freezer aisle of a grocery store instead of nice crispy traditional frites. While certainly it’s not the only restaurant in the area that knows its clientele are mostly passing tourists who likely won’t be back for a second meal, I hope truthful reviews like this will warn at least some people away before they get here. There are better places to eat in the immediate vicinity, and Unilocal makes it easy to find them.

the place was crowded because everything else was closed on Easter Sunday. The food was below average. I had roasted chicken; and honestly, that was the most bland tasting chicken i ever had – tasteless and dry!!!

My most regrettable experience in Paris was my time at Le Solferino. After a long enjoyable day of walking around Paris my wife and I decided to drop in for dinner because it was on the way back to our hotel and we didn’t feel like walking around any more before having a meal and a little time off our feet. Our waiter was a joke. He spent more time texting on his phone then doing anything else. A group of young ladies came in that had to wait for him to finish whatever he was doing on his phone several times before he would answer their questions. The biggest disappointment was the food. I felt like I was on a French version of «Candid Camera.» My wife and I both ordered the Penne A La Florentine. A very simple dish. It ended up being a bowl of penne noodles with what looked like canned spinach plopped on top of the noodles and two sun dried tomato halves for garnish. The gross looking, watery spinach was very, very salty and the whole dish was one of the worst meals I’ve had at any restaurant anywhere! It tasted gross. That is not an exaggeration just because of my bad experience, I honestly could have gotten a better meal(and better service) and any 24 hour truck-stop diner. I’m pretty sure the location of this restaurant is the only reason it could possibly stay open. I am happy to say this was the only real bad experience we had during our week in Paris and we now just laugh about the whole thing, but I wanted to write a review so others may be able to stay clear of a «laughable» experience in this awesome city.

In a touristy area of the city, we stumbled in out of exhaustion. And here began the story of why France is my least favorite European country. Lamb chops were chewey, duck was dry and shoe-leathery, bread was meh, wine ok, and service eh. I did make our server crack a smile, which after all the condescending nonsense we experienced all day, was welcome. But more of Paris, the good, great and annoying to follow.

A EVITERABSOLUMENT!

We were desperate. Yes, that basically summed up how we stumbled upon Le Solferino. We were hungry, tired, and needed a break from trying to maximize our Paris museum pass. It was Sunday, which meant that most of the shops and restaurants were closed. While walking down St. Germaine, we stumbled upon Le Solferino. Actually, it was just because there was already a crowd eating there. It’s located on a cute corner with lots of outdoor seating and it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Paris. We got seated quickly and ordered two cappuccinos, a pâté baguette, and a croque madame(you have to, you’re in Paris!!). Both were just okay. We probably could have gotten a cheaper and tastier version of both sandwiches from a hole in the wall bakery/sandwich shoppe. But, when in Paris — do as the Parisians. You know it caters(and sets its lures) to unsuspecting tourists when there’s English on the menu. Oh, and also when they charge 6 euros for a glass of coke.

Very good and open Sunday night. It is a tourist trap, but having someone speak English was nice. The appetizers were very good. The foie gras was tasty with a large portion. The escargot was simply spectacular, with a garlic butter pesto sauce, they were tender and tasty. Dinner was lamb for myself, and thin rib steak for my wife. Just ok. Dessert was another greatness. The chocolate cake was rich, decadent and spectacular. Simply dissolved into fudged goodness like a lava cake. The lemon tart was good, but the cake was great. A decent choice for appetizers and desserts.
Great lunch. Guess we got lucky with the waiter we had after reading the reviews. We were desperate as it was raining and needed a quick lunch before the Orsy.
