Amazing dinner! I chose this restaurant for our first night out in Paris and I was amazed. Since you arrive everyone is so friendly, the owner himself is there, the maitre and all the staff. The place is beautiful, the tables are fully spaced and the food is delicious!

Macéo was such a delightful surprise! It wasn’t even on my radar, until the concierge at my hotel offered to make me a reservation here when a vegan restaurant I had wanted to try wasn’t open that evening. I couldn’t believe I was going to have dinner at an authentic French restaurant, and that they’re happy to accommodate vegans! This place is nice, so be sure to dress the part. We started off with chardonnay which was just delicious. Then we were offered an amuse-bouche, cream of asparagus soup. In horrible, sad, pathetic high school French, I think I stated, «This is milk,» but had enough of a confused look on my face to insinuate that I was asking, «Does this have milk in it?» The waiter laughed kindly and responded in English, «No, there’s no dairy.» It’s like they knew I was coming, which is possible that the concierge might’ve mentioned something, but I was taken by surprise and totally delighted. It was delicious, by the way. I’m not entirely sure of what I ate for dinner, and judging by their latest menu, it seems to have changed already. What you need to know is that they list the vegetarian options(on our menu, there were two choices), but you need to ask which is vegan or can be made vegan. I only had one option, but it was thankfully delicious. It was mostly mushrooms, but really fancy mushrooms perfectly cooked, and served on a bed of warm cooked grains that were creamy. I loved every bite. There was nothing vegan on the menu for dessert, but there was an ice cream dish covered in fruit that they offered me, without the ice cream. I excepted it to be boring but it was really nice! It was really good fruit, like figs, with a sweet sauce drizzled on top. Not mind blowing, but it was so sweet of them to offer to accommodate me, I couldn’t resist. If you’re a vegan or a vegetarian worried about eating in a French restaurant, this is the one to go to. They have plenty of non-veg offerings, making it the best choice for a nice meal if you’re dining with meat eaters. In Paris, Macéo is one of a kind!

Disappointed! It is a very touristy restaurant. Hardy any locals and after my dinner tonight I understand why! I have had better vegetarian food in Paris. To top it all, I called in advance to make it a special evening as we were celebrating a bday. They charged me extra for a simple candle and some horrible flowers! Won’t be recommending this restaurant for sure!

Being a vegetarian visiting Paris for the past couple days, I finally felt like I tried Parisian cuisine! I started with a poached egg over lentils which was perfect. The flavors were outstanding. I then had a roasted beet risotto, which was very unique and very delicious! It wasn’t saturated with cream and butter like other risottos I’ve tasted, but rather had more flavor and depth. My boyfriend ordered foie gras and a beef dish and he also thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Our desserts were decadent! The presentation, atmosphere, and dining experience as a whole was wonderful! And you just can’t beat the price for the tasting menu! So glad we researched this place before our trip :-) Would definitely recommend it to all on the fence!

I enjoyed Macéo with my fiancée for Le Saint-Sylvestre(New Year’s Eve). So I can only speak to that special menu, but I would say bravo several times over. It was a perfect meal. Wonderful atmosphere, well-timed service, wonderful hosts and servers. We were even seated by the proprietor. I would go back here again and again. Go to Macéo!

Maceo was 1 of the Paris-vegetarian-friendly options we had read about as we were researching good eats for our weekend getaway & we ended up w/another nice evening in the City of Lights Started with the carpaccio of figs with citrus salad — carpaccio seems to be the buzzword of the season as every restaurant we visited had a carpaccio of some sort & we were really intrigued by the figs… they were very tender & soaked up the vinaigrette very well Risotto w Spinach & Mushrooms — the risotto wasn’t as creamy as other risottos we’ve had & the rice grains were very discernible. I gave my spinach to the Mr & was able to enjoy the mushrooms Caramelized Peaches with vanilla semolina cake — loved the peach & the cake resembled an American pound cake Overall, this was a good meal. Not the best we’ve ever had but certainly not the worst — we might check around for other options first but would come back & to me, that all equals a big A-OK

We absolutely loved this place! Coming from someone who knows foods and works in the restaurant industry in San Francisco, this is a top notch restaurant in terms of food, ambiance, and service. All the dishes were prepared well and seasoned correctly, there are a ton of veg options(a main reason why we went here), there is a huge wine list w fair prices, and the décor is a fun art deco/modern Egyptian sort of vibe. I would recommend looking nice when dining here, as it is a nice restaurant and some Americans were wearing their day clothes and walking shoes, which was not appropriate and showed them to be bad ambassadors for our country(people– you’re in Paris, France not Texas). For two people who had the pre fixe menu(there are two options, one 45 € and one 39 €), and a bottle of Sancerre, it was about 130 €. Not bad for an upscale dinner!

***this review is for Paris Ramen Week at Maceo, which is not their regular menu*** The space is big and open and the servers are attentive and good. Our food was served in a really timely manner, even though it was a single course«restaurant week» menu. There was a huge line outside and a great«tasting» and knowledge room upstairs for us while we waited for our table. Will definitely return, given the reviews for this place.

We were drawn here by reviews with it having a good choice for vegetarians which is hard to come by in Paris! It was my birthday and mentioned this on our online booking which we made for 10pm as we were visiting le Tour de Eiffel beforehand and didn’t want to be late if we had booked earlier. The last booking slot was at 10.30pm so didn’t think anything of it. However I was surprised that they called me after making the reservation to make sure we weren’t late for our reservation as the kitchen closes at 10.30. He was polite in how he asked this, but I feel they shouldn’t accept online reservations up until 10.30 if they are going to rush their customers. We arrived just before 10 after racing across Paris. There were only three other tables being used in this large restaurant by this time, one vacated shortly after our arrival. The restaurant looks beautiful inside, albeit a little bright — I prefer a lower light personally. I couldn’t help notice that there is no music in this restaurant. I don’t know if that’s because it’s high end but it totally ruined the atmosphere for me. I was really aware of our conversation and the clinking of cutlery etc whilst dining with it being so quiet. And the atmosphere ruined my experience. Even a quiet bit of music would have cut through the tension in the room. Anyway onto the food. It was very nice indeed I cannot deny, and the presentation was amazing. My boyfriend and I are not frequenters to fancy restaurants I must admit, but the experience didn’t leave me hankering for more visits. For the price the portion sizes were very small, especially the main course, and obviously there are no options for sides! The bread saved us. After two courses I wouldn’t say I was full. We would have had a desert but out bill was already at 115 € for two courses for 2 and a carafe of wine. We even opted for fish courses as we weren’t blown away by the vegetarian ones in the end which was disappointing. They also didn’t cater for vegetarians in the fix prix menu(or just fish). Our experience was pleasant enough, but the staff didn’t check back on us or even ask how our meal was in the end. I don’t know of this is fancy restaurant protocol either. The food was nice but not sure it was worth the price tag, I expected to be blown away and the atmosphere to be special. Oh and they never acknowledged my birthday even though we mentioned it in the booking. I wouldn’t return personally, but I might suggest it to vegetarians but not without telling our experience. Maybe we’re just not cut out for fancy restaurants! Call me uncouth.

Tasty food in a nice setting, but overpriced and poor service. Ate at Maceo on a Wednesday night — tried to get Thurs or Friday but they were booked already, so it seems to be a popular place. I’ll admit the food was good — it just isn’t worth what they’re charging. The dining room is nice, and upscale without being stuffy, perhaps what the Brits might term«smart.» Even at full capacity, it wasn’t too loud, and it had a good mix of different sized tables for couples or groups. The service was consistently slow, which was particularly annoying as we came in quite hungry and ready to order(and eat). Not only were they slow in taking and bringing our orders, but they had sat us right next to a table where they stage the bread for the dining room, so we had to look at it longingly while we politely waited about 20 minutes for them to bring some the 5 feet over for us to take the edge off our hunger. In a sort of farce of a true fine dining experience, there was an amuse bouche which was just a short glass of puréed watermelon with what was supposedly a few star anise seeds tossed in(it was actually fennel, but whatever). My first course was a foie gras, which was quite good — but this is Paris and you’re charging 25 euros, it better be good. We next had a plate of vegetables for 23 euros, which again were good, but for 23 euros I’m expecting some really special frickin vegetables, either that or a huge portion, and this was neither of those things. My main course was a rack of lamb, which was well-cooked and well-seasoned, no complaints there. In summary, this place obviously has some talent in the kitchen, and a well-designed front of the house, but not worth a trip given all the other options in this city.

As someone who needs to entertain clients who are often veggie but want to try French food, this place is a brilliant option. The lunch menu for 39 euros, without wine, has multiple options for veggies(going beyond salads). The food was beautifully presented and very very tasty. A big thumbs up.

Excellent restaurant with a classy but relaxed feel to the main dining room. Good value for the quality of food and service. We made a reservation a day or two in advance when we were there last September. My wife and I are ovo-lacto vegetarian and we had several options to choose from. We went with the pre-fixe menu and had the risotto. They have a nice wine selection too, had a delicious Maconnais Chardonnay to go with it. I liked it a lot and would go back again.

I booked our table at Maceo months ago after reading on Paris by Mouth that it was a good choice for vegetarians. I had a friend visiting, who, unlike the carnivorous household in which I reside, dislikes meat and doesn’t think bacon goes with everything(weird I know, still each to their own ;)). Our excitement was slightly dampened when a fellow foodie reported back to say that they had not enjoyed Maceo as much as they had expected and had found it a bit stuffy. We forged ahead all the same, the appeal of the vegetarian tasting menu too strong for my friend after a week of living on nothing but cheese and bread — being a vegetarian in France is tough! I’m glad we did, as Maceo turned out to be lovely. A charming ground floor dining room(with slightly less appealing room upstairs) welcomed us in from the unrepentant rain. The warm red tones felt most inviting from the outside and the artsy lamps and sculptures, and little mezzanine-come-library make it feel like someone’s home. It felt high end but slightly more casual than I was expecting — little things like the uncovered chairs, and varying sizes and shapes of table, gave it a more laid back atmosphere. The food turned out to be delicious too, and although there was no vegetarian tasting menu, there were two starters and two mains on the menu designated ‘V’(V is for Venus at Maceo, and Mars for dishes containing meat — draw from that whatever gender conclusions you wish!). We ordered from the Prix Fix tasting menu(2 courses for 30EUR, 3 for 39EUR) and found it to be mostly delicious. All the dishes were very seasonal and I have to say the prices, especially given the quality of the food, were very reasonable. The highlights were the carpaccio of cepes as a starter and quinoa risotto with beets and goats cheese. The pear poached in cassis for dessert was pretty damn good, as was the cinnamon and speculaas ice cream served with another dessert. Some people have commented on the service but we found it to be pleasant and efficient, and they even have English menus if you are concerned about ordering in French. All in all a lovely dinner and I would definitely go back.

Great restaurant. The food is seasonal — so, it’s possible that the food you order will be the same as mine. Still, chances are you won’t go wrong. You choose from a la carte or price-fixed menu(basically choose from column A — appetizer -, column B — entrée -, and column C –dessert). I would recommend the price-fixed menu, since much of the food is the same and it’s cheaper that way. Anyway, I tried the seared bream(fish), veal carpaccio, and some pear + ice cream dessert(40 euros). My wife had a goat cheese snap, risotto, and a cherry tart dessert(35.5 euros). The quality was excellent! To be honest, my experience with French food is negligible, but this restaurant convinced me of how good it can be! A tad on the pricey side, especially with the current exchange rate, but I figured I would splurge a bit on vacation. Service was great. Friendly people and all spoke English, in case that concerns you. We’re not big wine drinkers, so I can’t speak to that. I hear they have a decent selection though.

Taken here for my birthday treat, I paid though! Lovely surroundings, service excellent. Choice of food from either 3 fixed price menus or a la carte. I went from a la carte and chose lobster bisque with«surprise»(their words) lobster ravioli followed by organic beef With bone marrow diced vegetables and creamy polenta and then a chocolate fondant with aniseed pineapple syrup… Mmm All good but in hindsight should have gone with a fixed price as most of menu on those. Wine choice very wide went with a Marsannay from recommendation of the sommelier
