has a nice terrace and would be a good place to have a drink before eating somewhere else…

Nice place with really good pizza only unfortunately bad and slow service. There are lots of tables outside(even across the street!) and the inside is huge with tables on the main floor as well as in the basement. If you have time to sit for a while, stop in and try the pizza, it is really good.

Right next to the Lafayette shopping mall the restaurant serves not only Italian food. One kids dish is available with different options to choose(pasta, burger, …) and a desert. Food is good but not cheap, pasta is available around 10 – 15 €, pizza as well.

Thank god for Tivoli. All I wanted while in France was some good pasta, go figure, I know I’m a little backwards. So, after doing some shopping at the Lafayette Gallery, I walked a few blocks over and found this gem! The service was exceptionally quick, my cheese and meat ravioli were the best meal that I had while on my trip. Topped with all sorts of fresh cheeses I was in heaven. In and out in under 45 minutes, was great. When I walked in(dining alone) I was already at the end of my energy threshold and they quickly brought bread, and olive oil, and a big glass of wine. Soon after came my entrée.

Ate here almost a year ago and I still think it’s the best Pasta Bolognese i’ve ever had. I was travel across Europe with my family and the only French we had was the 2 years my sister took in high school… So about Tivoli it’s small and the décor is very nice looking. Our waitress that seated us knew basically no English and my sister was freakishly shy when speaking with her in French. Fortunately one of the chef’s walking by knew some English and was able to help a little bit. Overall the food was good my parents and sister each ordered personal sized pizzas that they all really liked and of course you know what i had and it was amazing. Portions are small prices are fair compared to some of the other small restaurants in that particular area. –See my picture of the pasta and tell me it doesn’t make you wanna try some!

My teenagers wanted to get pizza so this place was packed and we tried it. I must say I enjoyed my pizza, called pepita, with peppers, onions and something almost pepperoni like. It was quite good. My daughters who wanted pizza, didnt get that of course… one got a salad which looked delicious and she enjoyed it and the other got pasta carbonara, which I tried. It was a creamy version of somethign carbonara like but not the real thing. One thing I did notice was when we first walked in, about 5 servers walked past us and never once looked at us to seat us. I was waiting for that 6th one, if he didnt stop I was walking out, but he was so nice I stayed. Mywaiter was also very friendly and he answered me back in English since my French was so bad… this is a good thing. I think its OK for pizza and salads but I wouldnt expect fabulous Italian food here, its Paris. who would?

The main things that you would want to know about this place are that it’s an Italian restaurant conveniently located right next to the Opéra Garnier, and that it’s definitely not worth the visit. I’ve had my fair share of overpriced French restaurants, but there’s something about this place in particular that stands out negatively in my mind. It’s almost as if this place were a model to all other restaurants in Paris that shows how you shouldn’t run a business. I can’t say for sure how the Italians must view this place, but I imagine that all it would take is one look for them to shake and bow their heads in shame. I sat down here and the first thing I noticed was that everything was in red. Suddenly, everything within my field of vision turned an annoying shade of red, as if an alarm were warning me to stay the hell away from this place. If you’re trying to picture this in your head, think about putting on glasses with red-tinted lenses or something. Of course, it was from the awning above; the sun was filtering through it and creating a red light that was casting down onto the table. It may not sound like a big deal, but your dining experience really gets ruined somehow when you see so much red. Try putting on those red glasses while eating sometime and you’ll notice how unenjoyable it becomes. I have pictures showing all this redness if you think I’m making it up. Next rage-inducing part of this restaurant is the menu. Hardly anything here costs under ten euros. If it’s fish or grilled meat, then seventeen euros is a little more understandable. But if you want pasta or a salad here for under ten euros, you can forget about it. I wanted something that was somewhat exotic to the average American but still at a reasonable price. I looked under«charcuterie» and ordered a bresaola for twelve euros. Did I know what I was getting when I ordered it? No, but that’s exactly why I decided upon it. All I knew was that it was some kind of «cooked porks meat [sic].» Really descriptive. When the bresaola came, I was treated to more red goodness, and a lot of it. Seriously, this meat could hardly have been any redder. I think it could have been best described with three«very’s»: very red, very salty, and very thinly-sliced. The taste was almost unbearable because of how salty it was. Aside from the bresaola on the plate, I saw leaves for garnish, butter, a wedge of lemon, and this weird red prune thing. That last item on the list was sour to the point of being nearly inedible, and to this day I don’t know what it was. As for the rest… garnish? That’s okay. That’s not for eating anyway. Butter? What’s the point of giving me butter on such salty slices of meat? What about the lemon; what am I supposed to do with that? Squeeze it all over the dish and make it taste even stronger? Basically, the whole meal was a complete disaster. Really the only thing on there that was suitable for eating was the bresaola itself, and even then it’s a stretch. What’s worse is that it came in a very limited quantity. If those slices of mystery meat weren’t thin or small enough, they also couldn’t afford to give me more than like ten of them. Needless to say, I was barely any less hungry after finishing this inexcusably horrid dish. There was a basket of bread on the table, as well as some oils for dipping. But I’d have to be kidding myself to say that it made up for the rest of the meal. Even if it did, that’s still not enough. Bread at this kind of restaurant is like rice at a Chinese restaurant or tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant. Sure, it counts, but it by itself doesn’t suddenly fix everything. Price — horrible. Taste — horrible. Quantity — horrible. It’s almost as if they’re trying to get people to hate them! Not like I can give a lower rating because of it, but the waiter who served my table didn’t speak English. I know what country this was in, but that was honestly the only instance where I’ve encountered a waiter in Paris who didn’t speak English. This has almost become unacceptable for a food server in France, so naturally I wasn’t too pleased. Really, there’s not much going for this place. If you wanted to find a better restaurant or pizzeria within the same area, well, I don’t suppose that task would be too difficult if you just walked a few feet away.

Ok so what would motive me to eat at an Italian restaurant in Paris? Well for one, it appears that every French fry loves Italian food because Italian restaurants are all over Paris… That aside, it was the only place conveniently located after taking a nap at the hotel and no motivation to walk anywhere… The service is so so, the food is so so, the restaurant overall is a tourist place which pretty much guarantees you the welcome to Paris, «now– bend-over-service. It wasn’t horrible but would never eat here again unless it’s 11pm and my lazy ass doesn’t want to walk anywhere. I had a pizza and a beer… it was coo and too easy of a meal to fuck up.

After wandering around the Galeries Lafayette, my friend, Kevin R. had an Italian food craving. After wandering around the streets for a while, we found this little place. I ordered the simple cheese pizza and it was great. When my waiter brought it out, the cheese was still bubbling from the heat! Mmmm I love ooey gooey cheesy pizza! At the same time, I had a bite of my sister’s carpaccio. While carpaccio is usually served with raw slices of beef, the beef slices here were cured a little resulting in a saltier taste and stickier texture. Eh, I still prefer my meat completely raw. Next time, if I’m in the area and craving pizza, I will know where to go! 3 stars!
