Incredible chocolate croissant! Worth visiting the shop and seeing the wonderful ceramic pieces he has created.

Wonderful bakery. It’s a small, dark space. Not dark in a bad way. Dark like there are magical secrets of flavor and flake within. Soft sunlight drifts in from the front. Giant loaves of fresh bread are all around and on the counter a huge, shallow bowl with fresh croissants, pain au chocolat and pain au raisin. The quality was superb. At least for my taste. Dark, golden brown, crispy flake on the outside. Dense, soft, buttery inside. I also got a small baguette that seems to have a touch of whole wheat. Great crust; hearty and chewy and delicious. The proprietor was helpful and friendly. A real gem.

Best Pain Au Chocolate in all of paris, and trust me, I’ve had them all. bruno’s boulangerie is located in the latin quarter on St Jacques/Rue des Ursulines, right next to an apartment we stayed in. he has a variety of baked goods like citron muffins, croissants, pain au chocolate, baked fruit tarts, lunch«pizzas», etc. I was so sad last time I went to Paris during the holidays, he was closed, and I called every single day, and luckily they were back from holiday before we left, and I got to taste the amazing pain au chocolate again. So flaky, buttery and crispy. Not like any other. The first time I visited him, I had him bake a bunch for me to bring back to the US and I picked them up at 6 am right when he opened his shop. he was so kind and accomodating, and even if you can’t speak french, he”ll find a way to communicate with you. Can’t wait to go back, and hopefully live next to his shop in the future.

My absolute favorite bakery in Paris. It’s a bit out of the way but it’s such a gem. The shop is so eccentric and he is so nice. The pain au chocolat is HEAVENLY — just the right amount of crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and(best part) they have been warm every time I’ve had them. It is so worth the 10 minute walk from the Pantheon.

A hidden gem in the Latin Quarter, unfussy and full of character. In his small shop, Bruno Solques offers rustic breads, whole wheat sweet and savory tarts, and a selection of breakfast pastries. His pain au chocolat is the best I’ve found around Val-de-Grace. Mr. Solques also creates terra cotta sculptures, which you will find decorating the walls of his bakery. A visit is like stepping into a private world entirely created by one very energetic man.

One of the tortures of traveling is finding new food you love, that you will have difficulty finding again. Bruno uses an almost whole wheat flour, so you feel healthy eating the delights you’ll find here. My favorites were the pistache & figue bread, and the tiny cannelles. I’m going to dream about those and probably try to make them. Eggy, squashy, divine.
