This is was a pure convenience lunch, as I was looking for somewhere in the area. It’s a bit pricey, but I love Lebanese cooking so I thought I’d give it a go. We started with rikakat which was soggy(normally should be slightly crispy on the outside and were obviously just heated up beforehand in a microwave). The mezzé plate was edible for the most part, but at 17 Euros, not really acceptable(i.e. cold chicken wings, lukewarm sausages). I’m not surprised given the dining room was full of French office workers who didn’t seem to know any better, not having tasted decent Lebanese cuisine themselves. Uneducated French diners do allow mediocre«ethnic» food to thrive in Paris. It’s a shame, but I should have foreseen.

On our recent trip to Paris, we wanted to have Middle Eastern food and this was the nearest to our hotel in St. Germain, Unfortunately it was a poor choice, despite the friendly owner and nice location. We knew almost immediately upon sitting down for dinner. Sous le Cedre is really a café/deli spot with tables in the back; for dinner, and the owner had to turn on the lights to the back room to seat us. Apparently they don’t really have much dinner business during the week, and their customers are mostly coming in to order prepared foods out at the front counter. No one else was there for dinner the entire evening. The cold dishes are pretty good; hummos, eggplant, tabouleh, salad were all nice and tasty, so I would stick with that. The hot menu items were just all reheated foods, like grilled chicken, falafel, and shwarma meats. We could hear the microwave oven beeping as the owner prepared our meal, so it was luke warm and tasteless. Too bad, it had promise. Maybe things are livelier on the weekends.

Worst food I’ve had so far in Paris! They put the food in Microwave right in front of us and I can tell you the chicken was cooked at least one month ago!

Super restaurant libanais, dans une ambiance absolument envoutante. De quoi voyager pour un repas. Service de qualité, plats sublimes et vraiment fins. On y va au moins tous les 6 mois !

We went here for our last dinner in Paris. Thanks to Unilocal we were able to satisfy our craving for humous. There are many ways you can go with the menu. There is a page for hot and cold small plates, and you can order 3 from each page for two people. The number of items you can order goes up with the number of people and of course the price is adjusted as well. We went a different way and got plates: I got the chiche taouk(chicken) and the wife got the mixed plate with sausage, lamb, and chicken. We both got humous and eggplant with our meals, as well as the wonderful rice. The meal came with a large stack of pita bread. Her plate was 18.00 euro and mine was 16.50. It was a huge amount of food and we could barely finish. My chicken was absolutely delicious. If we were in the States and had a frig we would have gotten a doggy bag, but that was not possible here. We really enjoyed our meal. It is a family owned place that is a take out place in the front and the small restaurant in the back. We had to ask for the restaurant because it was not clear at the beginning. When we were there, which admittedly was very early by Paris standards, the restaurant was empty except for us. The wife was very helpful as the waiter and showed us pictures of the different dishes. Her English was very good. I would definitely return.

Bof…

We found this place tryin gto avoid the touristy area. We walked from musee d’orsay away from the Seine towards St. Germain and passed St. Germain. Then we walked up a few streets and made a right. This is the best Lebanese restaurant ever! It was also the best restaurant we went to in Paris. Totally family owned. The wife cooks and the husband is the waiter. They are really nice and speak English. He gave free refills on my tea and free refills on the pita bread. I had the kafta with rice, parsely tomato salad, hummus(best hummus we ever had), some sort of tomato salsa, and some sort of cream. It was alot of food so definately had big portions = good value for your money. Baklava came warm and crispy. It was the best baklava ever. Everything was homemade.
