Un Zèbre à Montmartre

Our second time here and the first time was definitely better than the first. Their rib eye steak lacked flavor and their sea bass was dry. Their salmon sashimi however was fresh and the soy sauce it was served with had this sweet tang twist to it, which was lovely.
Service is horrible from the female waitress we had. Refused to recommend one dish out of the two i threw at her & had a very lackadaisical attitude during the entire evening… Not just with our table, but with the neighboring tables as well. It Turned a much anticipated dining experience into a very sour one.
Prices are good and it’s in a great area of Montemartre.

«$$$» food but only at a «$» price. Will be coming here every time I’m in Paris from now on.
Mains are 13.50 € to 15 € and our wine glasses were 3.50 € each (ranging up to 5 or 6)…

Pause café un après-​midi en terrasse. Le restaurant est super mignon et la terrasse nous donnait envie. Le café était bon (classiquement) mais nous avons trouvé que le service manquait d’amabilité. Nous n’avons rien mangé donc on né peut pas juger la réelle qualité du restaurant mais un sourire né fait de mal à personne !! En tout cas, des tables extérieures en mosaïque qu’on aimerait avoir chez nous…

My sister and brother in law highly recommended this place when they came here in May, so we gave it a try.
Small almost typical café with a friendly bartender (owner??) and wait staff. Sat us down and and ordered right away.
I really have to start taking pictures of my meals so I remember what I had… or take notes or maybe write my review no more than a day or 2 later.
But I do remember that my wife had their duck confit and I had a marinated beef dish. I had scalloped potatoes, while my wife had roasted potatoes and we both had green beans.
Everything was as recommended… very good.
We (again) shared a bottle of bordeaux which was good, although (and I’ve mentioned this in other reviews) that I thought their wines (bordeaux mostly) were… OK. I much prefer the California Pinot Noirs and merlots… and the Mendoza Valley Malbecs. But that’s me.
If you’re in the area… it’s well worth the stop.

Un peu déçu… L’endroit est prometteur surtout avec cette terrasse sympathique en plein été ouvert tard. Mais l’assiette n’est pas à la hauteur. Mousse au chocolat format brique et tarte tatin trop sucrée. Il doit y avoir mieux dans le quartier.

Super petite brasserie, ambiance très chouette.
Resto sympathique et chaleureux. Le personnel est serviable et accueillant.

L’endroit en agréable mais souvent bondé car très apprécié des habitués du quartier. Notre petite table était limite assez grande pour accueillir nos trois assiettes.
Niveau cuisine j’ai eu un vrai coup de cœur pour le thon mi-​cuit aux légumes verts… Très tendre, saupoudré de sésame grillé et d’huile d’olive, ça se mange sans fin.
Par contre, grosse déception sur le dessert. Notre crêpe au spéculos et à la crème anglaise était affreusement écœurante. Super sucrée, très très grasse et sans vrai saveur. Peu surprenant quand on sait que la crème anglaise venait d’une briquette de supermarché (l’inconvénient de laisser les portes des cuisines ouvertes).
Bref, venez pour boire un bon verre de vin, manger de bons plats (pas les desserts), vous poser un peu et c’est parfait pour passer un bon moment.

A great place to experience the evening culture at an outdoor table. The staff was very friendly and the food was great.

I found a recommendation on thrillist Paris and headed to visit this location. I am really surprised the restaurant fit my expectations. The prices are similar to every restaurant in Paris but the quality of the food is so much better. Delicious taste and a great selection for wine and tea fanatics. If you are around montmartre this place is definitely worth staying!

I was sceptical of this place when my friend invited me here. My first warning sign went off with the english menus. English menu = tourist trap. Funnily enough, it did not match up with the french one at all so we ordered off the french one.
However, sometimes appearances can be deceiving because the meal was delicious and well priced for such a touristy area.
It is placed on a nice little square (kind of) but the inside could do with a bit of modernising. My friend and I were speaking in English, which I always finds influences the service, as it did that night. Not the friendliest.
Would I return? No, it was ok, as the french would say ‘sans plus’

L’un de mes petits bars/​restaurants de quartier.
A vrai dire, j’y vais un peu à toute heure: l’après-midi pour y boire un petit café, le soir pour une bière en terrasse ou un peu plus tard, pour le dîner.
L’équipe est jeune et sympathique, certains diront peut-​être un peu trop détendue. Plus j’y vais, plus j’ai l’impression d’être dans le prolongement de mon salon — ce qui est loin de me déplaire.
Niveau cuisine, c’est plutôt bon, parfois même très bon. J’y ai goûté le burger et plus récemment le thon mi-​cuit aux légumes, en croûte de sésame. Eh bien pour 13 €, c’était pas mal du tout (bien que moyen mi-​cuit, plutôt cuit). Un jour, je me promets d’essayer le «Saint-​Félicien rôti» (ou Saint-​Marcellin, je né sais plus trop), que je vois souvent sur les tables d’à côté à l’heure de l’apéritif. Tout le monde y trempe son pain en parlant, et ça m’a toujours l’air complètement jouissif.
Bref, un rapport qualité/​prix/​ambiance imbattable pour le quartier des Abbesses. Pour preuve, Le Zèbre comme je l’appelle est largement fréquenté par les gens du quartier…

A éviter…
Le service est inexistant et laisse à désirer, ils né nous ont pas demandé ce que nous vouloions boire. Les plats au secours, cuisine snas goût et sans saveur !! Franchement cela fait des années que je n’y étais pas venu et je né suis pas prêt d’y remettre les pieds d’ici tôt…

A great family-​friendly «local» in Montparnasse — we had booked ahead. We met fellow-​travellers here and had an exceptional meal. Yes, we tried the tomato & buffala mozarella millefeulle, pâté and the the entrecôte, duck & honey and cheese burgers for mains. The chocolate mousse hit the spot. All well-​delivered and no complaints from 7 children — you read that right, SEVEN. There’s no greater compliment than that!
Lovely house wine and relaxed atmosphere for parents who needed it. I’d recommend again and again.

Stayed a week in Montmartre, mainly because it had the best air bnb place for us. It’s touristy and as our host said most restaurants are tourist places serving bad food. This place was good, but I’m not raving. Bobby et Bobette was much better and the only place we deemed worthy of a second visit. This place is certainly worth going to over many others but it’s not the be all and end all.

Great service, great food, and a great value! The waiter was just lovely and it was one of the best meals I had in paris! Now keep in mind this is not some fancy French bistro, but it tasted authentic and somewhat comforting ! I would definitely go back for more !

This place was recommended to me by a local and I am so glad! I went with a friend and we asked the waitress what she recommended and she did not steer us wrong. Both dishes were delicious but I definitely got the better or the two! Duck in a honey and grape reduction — so yummy! Just make sure to save room for dessert!

Dimanche début d’après-midi, soleil éclatant, on cherche une terrasse au soleil évidemment, pour déjeuner.
Terrasses pleines dans le quartier, et Un Zèbre nous a tapé dans l’oeil. On patiente au bar avec un jus en attendant qu’une table se libère (ce qui n’a pas plus à certains serveurs en désaccord avec celui qui nous faisait attendre et on l’a bien senti c’était pas très cool, genre «Et ben ELLES ont qu’à attendre!!»…)
On nous installe enfin à 3 sur une table de 2, on a attend un petit moment, des espagnoles s’installent à côté, on leur prend la commande avant nous (ah ouai?!) et on commande. Nos plats arrivent (avant les espagnols!?). Le service bof il a fallu demander un couteau qui manquait, de l’eau, les sauces. mais les plats sont bons, on est bien au soleil, on se plaint pas on est dimanche quand même !
On termine nos plats, les espagnols toujours pas servies et elles commencent à êtres sérieusement dégoutées… enfin leurs plats arrivent. Nous on règle et on part.
Bref j’ai déjeuné un dimanche dans un bistrot bobo-​touristico à Montmartre…

Découvert sur Unilocal,nous avons malgré tout attendus une bonne quarantaine de minutes avant d’être servis ! Heureusement l’attente en valait la peine, le magret était excellent. Enfin, la serveuse a su se rattraper en nous offrant un verre…

La cuisine est bonne. Le paleron est très moelleux et goûteux. Par contre le service est moyen. L’accueil est correcte mais nous sommes accueilli dans la précipitation et les plats s’enchaîné trop vite. Les assiettes sont enlevées sans demander !
Globalement le rapport qualité prix est faible car ça reste cher pour ce qu on a.

Découvert sur Unilocal,nous y sommes allés à 4 pour le soir du 14 juillet, étonnamment très peu d’attente pour ce restaurant pour très bien situé au coeur du quartier des abbesses. La déco type «troquet parisien début du siècle» est de très bon goût. Je recommande chaudement le magret de canard au miel qui est probablement l’un des meilleurs que j’ai pu manger sur Paris. Petit plus: la carte avec ses prix fixes à 13 euros pour les plats.

A laid back, casual neighborhood restaurant in Montmarte is worth the trip. The restaurant is small but has character and color and the food is good. The wait staff was friendly and helpful (my French is not so good so they were tolerant). Went for a late lunch and was happy to get a table in the smaller room towards the kitchen. Great ambiance, good food, happy people all makes for an enjoyable experience.

Montmartre is full of bistros and bars targeting their naïve tourist clientele. It’s tough to find a spot offering the «real» Parisian experience around here, but it is possible (real Parisians live & eat around here, after all).
Zebra is a bit off the main Montmartre strip, and has a very laid-​back, artsy vibe. The sidewalk tables were full, not surprisingly, so we ate inside on worn velvet furniture, surrounded by colorful art. The food is certainly not gourmet, but still enjoyable. My spinach salad was covered in shaved parmesan (would you like some spinach with your cheese, madame?) Our friend had the lasagna, which was also very cheese-​heavy. Welcome to France!
Zebra is probably better suited for a drink, seated on the sidewalk & positioned for people-​watching vs. a meal. But, it didn’t feel like a tourist trap, and that alone is a victory in this neighborhood.

Excellent. Despite its touristy location, the Zebra is warm and welcoming. I’m a veggie and I thought the vega meal was excellent, desserts were fantastic too. I’m a fan and will stop in every time I’m in Paris from now on.

Das Publikum besteht aus einem bunten Mix aller Altersklassen und sozialer Schichten.
Es gibt rustikale, traditionell französische Gerichte.
Statt einer Speisekarte wird einem einfach eine Schiefertafel gebracht, auf der die täglich wechselnden Angebote stehen.
Die Preise sind fair, das Essen war sehr lecker und die Atmosphäre war locker und zwanglos.
Wir haben uns hier richtig wohl gefühlt und kommen bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Paris auf jeden Fall wieder.

They do have an English menu. «an» meaning one. for the whole restaurant. written on a chalkboard that they bring to you and then sent on the floor against the bar. i’m sure it doesn’t cost that much to print that out on paper.
It felt a bit like a tourist trap eatery since the people next to us weren’t French-​speakers.
Boy did not like his duck. Was too tough and annoying to chew. We’ve had better at a different French restaurant.
I wanted to like my cheesy potatoes since they were tasty, but large bits of it were hard as rock, as if it’d been sitting under a heat lamp for too long.
The bread came out the same time as the entrée. Annoying, since we’d want to eat the entrees while they’re hot and then really have no use for the bread.

visited here on my latest trip to paris with my boyfriend, my lovely parents and their best friends/​my second parents.
it was late by the time we’d all arrived in paris (dad was coming from saudi, mum + 2^nd parents from aberdeen, and my boyfriend and myself from london) so we didn’t step up to this place until almost 11pm on a friday night.
it was still super busy, but they managed to accommodate us by splitting us up, 2 and 4, which suited us fine. the service was really great — they were friendly and attentive, but mainly left us to our devices.
when the waiter asked me what i wanted i blurted out steak tartare before i could stop myself. i don’t know what came over me because i rarely eat red meat, and i didn’t really know what tartare was! imagine my delighted surprised when a big pile of raw mince arrived shortly after our order. hah! i was a trooper and tried it, and it was surprisingly quite nice, but i definitely didn’t manage to make a big dent in it.
my dining companions all made wiser choices based on their normal food preferences and enjoyed what they received. i like the side salad choice of spinach as it is definitely my favourite green, but the fries that were on most of the plates felt like they had been cooked and reheated. i’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was due to the lateness of the hour we were dining.
after we’d finished our meals, the restaurant staff were happy for us to sit and enjoy a couple of drinks. the restaurant is small and intimate and has a really lovely atmosphere, a good drink selection and reasonable prices. i would definitely return here.

I did not get any food here but it is a great place to relax, have a drink and people watch. The staff was very friendly.

Une petite brasserie sympathique, à l’ambiance chaleureuse et conviviale située dans cette rue pleine de restos du quartier des Abbesses.
Le personnel est dynamique et sympathique, la déco un peu too much mais juste ce qu’il faut en fait pour compléter l’ambiance du lieu.
La cuisine est tout à fait correcte, une présentation pas des plus originale mais des produits simples travaillés simplement et efficacement.
Juste ce qu’il faut, à un prix tout à fait correcte, pour passer une agréable soirée.
Accompagné d’un Malbec sud américain. Bonne soirée.
Seul regret né pas avoir pu goûter LE dessert de la maison «l’omelette aux fraises et spéculos» la cuisine ayant fermée dans l’entre-fait.
Bref, si vous êtes dans le coin, entrez dans celui la et ça se passera bien.

Beautiful spot to stop for a drink before dinner. We enjoyed the house white and then moved on to a beautiful first course of baked Camembert drizzled with honey and poppy seeds and surrounded by fresh, lightly-​dressed spinach. Served with their excellent house bread (is there a café in Paris without excellent house bread?!) it was divine.
The service was a little slow and disorganized (we were there during the transition to dinner, so I can’t blame them entirely) but the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely return!

Two course for 15 Euro. English menu, friendly service. Small place, but what isn’t in the Paris area?
This is not a tourist trap eatery. Food is legit, good cooking!
Mozzarella & tomato salad was great. Loved the chive added. Beef roast with onion sauce, scalloped potatoes and haricots vert was very good. Kinda fatty, but yum. Very hearty portion! All done with nice presentation.
Wife had the tuna with soy preparation. She said it was «ok». I think that we discovered to stick with the more indigenous style cuisine in Europe, rather than the europeans trying to cook asian. We have better asian food in California.
Side note: Wife tried the beef and loved it. Kicked herself for getting the tuna :-P
That being said, we would visit again for sure! 4 stars for my food, and we both loved the feel of the restaurant… and the bread mmm…

Tasty first meal located minutes from our hotel Hôtel Relais Montmartre. Un Zèbre à Montmartre feels like a locals’ restaurant, but don’t let that deter you. There are friendly waiters that are willing to deal with English-​only Americans, and serve tasty, reasonably priced food to boot. My favorite meal in my 4 day stay in Paris, the recommended braised beef was super yummy. Bön appetit!

Oui c’est chouette Un Zèbre à Montmartre. C’est familier. C’est un peu la valeur –refuge du bistrot de quartier (j’ai fait de la comm il faut bien que je place deux ou trois termes que j’ai appris à l’Ecole sinon mes parents vont croire que mon travail n’est pas sérieux).
Bref. Toujours sympa le Zèbre, mais on s’ennuie un peu. L’éclairage m’a déçue.
Mouais, c’est bête hein un éclairage mais ça peut gâcher un peu l’ambiance de la soirée. Le cheeseburger (no limit: je mange un burger presque tous les jours en ce moment. On my way to obesity), est un peu décéptif (2EME TERME APPRIS À L’ÉCOLE). Pas mal, mais au bout de la 3e bouchée on sature, idem avec les frites. Elle m’auraient presque fait regretter mes wedgies Picard. C’est dire.
Donc je né suis pas restée longtemps, mais j’ai eu l’impression d’aller voir une vieille tante qu’on n’a pas vue depuis longtemps. C’est un peu bizarre, pas désagréable mais on est content de rentrer chez soi quand même.

Rendez-​vous avec un monsieur très important. Il me propose qu’on se retrouve aux Abbesses, je dis ok. Pourquoi j’ai dit ok, cruchasse que je suis? Je né connais absolument rien dans le quartier.
Je demande autour de moi, on me conseille des super bars pour aller boire de chupitos, des cocktails de malade avec des super vues de Montmartre. Sympas les copains, mais j’ai besoin d’un bar ouvert tôt dans la matinée. Et c’est pas pour un rencard, mais pour une interview.
Sur le conseil très avisé d’Elodie F. (merci !), je suis allée à «un Zèbre à Montmartre». Le nom m’inspirait bien. J’arrive un peu avant 9h30, le barman est en train d’installer les dernières tables (canons) sur le trottoir au soleil. Synchronisation parfaite :)
Le barman se plante dans ma commande, pas vraiment l’envie, le moment de lui faire remarquer mais quand il a vu que j’enregistrais la discussion, m’a fait un clin d’oeil et a baissé la musique, sans rien que je demande. Wow, trop cool et pardonné pour l’erreur.
Le bar est plutôt cosy, assez mignon mais sans prétention. Quelques tables sont dehors, certes sur le trottoir, mais en plein soleil. Le barman est très cool.
Impression plutôt positive, j’y retournerai !

Le zèbre est très sympathique surtout aux beaux jours quand on arrive à trouver une table en terrasse, on peut alors profiter tout à la fois du passage des voisins et des plats inscrits à l’ardoise de ce petit resto qui né se prend pas au sérieux.

The one restaurant I return to (besides L’as du Falafel) each time I return to Paris. A no brainer for anyone who wants to avoid tourist traps, overpriced/​bad food, and enjoy a local scene with a forever changing fresh menu, and kickass bar.
We were recommended this gem by my fiancé’s brother who is a Parisian local, and he did not disappoint! Tucked up in the hills of Montmartre, it’s about a 10 minute walk up the hill from the Moulin Rouge building. There you will find a strip of restaurants and bars most people would miss, the tourist crap is thankfully at a distance from here.
The restaurant does have a bit of a wait if you dont make a reservation, but no more than 15 – 20 minutes and the real beauty of it is that there is a bar, so just have your apéritif before you sit at your table ! A little on the noisy side but that’s pretty much expected, and in true Parisian custom, as many tables and chairs are squashed into a small space as possible. This is not an uncomfortable situation by any means…
The food is really the highlight of why we keep coming back. The kitchen is dishing out traditional favorites (like Curries and steak/​frites) but adding their own flavor/​twists (sauces) to the dishes. This ends up making some ridiculously rich and flavorful food, the last time we were there, we were licking the end of the curry bowl. They offer a prix fixe menu for about 25 Euro, with the usual 3 courses and a little wine. We normally order one prix fixe (which generally has everything on the menu included anyway) and then one other entrée-​the food is rich so I recommend sharing the dessert and appetizer dishes.
For two it is anywhere between 50 – 80 Euro depending on how many drinks you buy from the bar. The bar has the usual suspects on tap: Leffe, Chimay) and also a few other lagers to choose from-​I think I remember 4 Euro a beer (not bad). The service is also surprisingly awesome (they actually GET that people are waiting to be fed outside), so we always leave a tip.
Really recommended to anyone who loves good food/​drinks and wants a bit of the local flavor Paris offers.

Back when I lived in Abbesses some three years ago I loved this place. I took my visiting friends and family here to show them «real» french cuisine at a decent price. We would laugh, drink, and enjoy the general laid-​back vibe around us.
Last night I was taken back on a date and was pleasantly surprised at what I found. While Abbesses has transformed… this restaurant has not.
The food was as delicious as I remembered: fresh baby spinach and parmesan «millefeuille» followed by Magret de canard smothered in honey and grapes served with a side of potatoes smothered in parsley and garlic (the only part of the meal that was eh)…and then an omelette au speculous et fraises… heavy, rich, and utterly sinful…
The ambiance is still chill, the deco funky, and the service correct. I was happy to see their lasagna still on the menu (ooooooooOOo). If you happen to be around Montmartre and are looking for lunch or dinner this is a fantastic place to go to eat.

Un petit café restaurant tout comme on les aime et comme on les attend… Rue des abbesses, on aime ce petit restaurant avec sa devanture rouge toute pimpante et son intérieur très parisien. Impossible de vous tromper: vous êtes bien à Montmartre ! La carte est simple, française mais les aliments sont frais et les salades composées sont gourmandes et appétissantes. Quant aux tartines, parfaites pour une fringale de fin d’apéritif !
Un spot où faire une halte à Montmartre mais Réservez !

Service sympa réalisé par des étudiants ou des jeunes… rien de bien formel et c’est ça qui est bon…
Un seul point faible la carte des vins… il vaut mieux se laisser tenter par une bonne bière…
Le must, la terrasse et l’ambiance d’habitués!

Apéro tardif un vendredi soir. Une petite fringale et on né veut aller ni à La Fourmi, ni au RDVA, ni au Tagada Bar. Allons au Zèbre. Arrivés devant la devanture rouge, on se dit «Mais elles sont où les rayures agressives du zèbre ?» Finalement, elles se fondent dans le décor, dans la mosaïque derrière le bar.
Il est 23H15 et contrairement à beaucoup de bars dans le coin, ici, on peut encore manger des plats élaborés. Et pas uniquement des planches. Par contre, on a cinq minutes pour choisir l’entréee, nous annonce le serveur sympa. Au prix unique de 6,5 €, elles sont toutes aussi alléchantes les unes que les autres: Crème de potiron, camembert rôti au miel, merrine de Saint-​Jacques… et Saint-​Marcellin sur mesclun. J’opte pour ce dernier… qui arrive à table en 2 minutes chrono. Aucun doute, le fromage chaud a été fondu au micro-​ondes ! Mais très bon, cela dit.
Pour les plats, c’est aussi tarif unique. Plus que raisonnable: 12 €. J’opte pour le pavé de thon mi-​cuit façon Kyoto (délicieux), ma copine pour le coq au vin bourguignon (assez succulent) et mon copain, l’entrecôte (pas terrible). Mais, en moyenne, on est assez contents de nos plats à 12 €, accompagnés de gratin dauphinois ou légumes façon wok.
Le Dessert? On tente l’authentique mousse au chocolat, recouverte de crème chocolat façon miroir, délicieuse. Très chocolatée… mais très copieuse. Les profiterolles sont pas mal aussi. Quant à la crème brûlée, manqué un peu de saveur.
Je conseille donc Un Zèbre à Montmartre pour un diner entre amis, pas trop cher et tout à fait correct. Le bar n’a pas forcément d’intêret, si ce n’est pour sa petite terrasse les beaux jours. Ici, quelques petites tables en mosaïque vous attendent pour l’apéro.

Quand on va au zèbre, on n’y va pas forcément pour le lieu qui reste assez banal mais bien pour sa carte! Situé au coeur de Montmartre, ce restaurant à su se forger un réputation de fer.
Proposant des spécialités lyonnaise, on peut déguster un délicieux pavé de saumon façon collonges, des tendres entrecôtes mais le plat incontournable reste le moelleux de paleron à la lyonnaise, un délice! Rien qu’en écrivant ce plat, j’ai les papilles gustatives qui commencent à saliver! Un dessert à né pas rater aussi est l’authentique mousse au chocolat.
L’ambiance est chaleureuse et décontracté. Les serveurs, jeunes, souriants et dynamiques vous donnent toujours la patate!
Les plats sont bien garnies et restent à des prix accessibles: 12 euros le plat et 6,5 pour les entrées et les desserts. Quant aux menus, vous pouvez vous en sortir pour 15 euros le midi et 17 euros le soir!
Notoriété oblige, la réservation reste une obligation autrement vous vous retrouverez au macdo à manger des hamburgers ce que je né vous souhaite pas!
