Valerie Salacroux

Not inexpensive (same price range as Marc by Marc Jacobs and similar), but the shoes are designed and fabricated in France, not mass-​produced. The owner was there when I stopped in, and she was very welcoming. She has a small atelier in the back of the boutique and it was interesting to see the works in progress.
In addition to the sabots mentioned by the other reviewer, there were also cork and wood heeled wedge sandals of various heights in neutral colors with metallic accents. The bags, made from pebbled leather, were more colorful (teal, olive, dark red). She also carries a range of small leather goods.
Sorry if this sounds like an ad — it’s not! It is just nice to find things that are bit different from what most of the other boutiques seem to be carrying.
The boutique is only open W-​Sat, from 11 – 7 (I think?) — so it’s worth a call before going to be sure that it’s open.

J’ai en truc pour les sabots depuis toute petite. C’est parce que ma mère et ses quatres soeurs en portaient tous le temps dans les années 70s et je rêvais d’être comme elles. Heureusement pour moi, les sabots façon rétro sont en plein croissance.
La marque Swedish Hasbeens a commencé la tendance, mais les chaussures de Valerie Salacroux sont dans une catégorie à part.
Ancienne styliste chez Prada, Marni, et Balanciaga, Salacroux a crée sa propre marque de chaussures il y a quelques années. Spécialisé dans les sandales et sabots, ses chaussures artisanales sont tous fabriquer en France dans les matières du très haute qualité. Avec leur formes ergonomiques et féminins, ils sont aussi confortables que sexy.
