Verse Toujours

Je suis allée chez verse toujours plusieurs fois et à chaque fois je trouve mes boissons, entrées, plats et desserts merveilleuse. De plus les serveurs sont aimables et l’ambiance est chaleureuse et calme. À tester!!!

Like everyone on Unilocal suggested, I went here with a friend and we both ordered the famous Tiramisu. I certainly understand why the big fuss… it was incredibly delicious and I loved that it had nutella at the bottom! Their tiramisu is 7,10 euros each and it comes served in a traditional glass jar. The portion size is pretty big for France so if you don’t have a sweet tooth or a massive sweets craving, you may want to just share one with someone else. The service was fine and the seating/​ambience was conducive to a good time.

I’m disappointed on the misleading reviews of this restaurant. I have to say this place was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in Paris ever. We ordered the duck and I can’t believe it was serve the way it was. It shrank and was the smallest and driest piece of duck I have ever had in my life. I think as a waiter before I could have even delivered it to my client I would have sent it back to the kitchen.
Anyway it was a complete disappointment to say the least.

J’y suis allée plusieurs fois car dans mon quartier, brasserie que je trouvais correcte jusqu’à ce que je sois placée du côté du bar où sont les frigos… Et là, l’horreur! Les serveurs qui touchent tout et n’importe quoi (argent, lavettes etc.) confectionnent eux-​mêmes les assiettes de charcuterie et de fromage avec LEURS DOIGTS! Le pain qui reste sur les tables est remis dans la panière commune, la serveuse qui met les glaçons dans les verres y va aussi avec les mains, de même pour les chouquettes servies en apéro…tout ça sans se laver les mains avant bien entendu. Hygièné déplorable.

Food atmosphere is great in a prime location though service is very slow and waiters are not friendly at all… Need some training for customer satisfaction

This is my third time to Paris and first time staying in the Latin quarter, so for our first dinner here, we just winged it and trusted Unilocal.It looks like a normal French bistro, busy and lively, although we were kind of tucked away in the back (which was okay since my girlfriends and I were tired from traveling). We started off with the duck foie and it was goood. I don’t understand why we can’t have it like this in the states! If I were to rate my dish, the magret de canard, it would be five stars! What a surprise to have one of my best duck meals on a random restaurant pick. However it came with some weird vegetable lasagna thing that I was just not interested in eating. My friends got steak and frites and a duck burger and they said they were good, but I think my entrée was the best.
For some reason I always want to try Nutella tiramisu, and it was highly recommended on Unilocal here, but I think after this time, I’m just going to opt to only get original tiramisu and only if it looks amazing. This Nutella tiramisu is better than other ones I’ve had but it wasn’t amazing or fantastic. I’d rather save the calories for Berthillon ice cream or Pierre Herme macarons! And they actually carry Berthillon glacé, so we were in luck and ordered a sundae of vanilla and salted caramel ice cream. :)

Great café. On the bigger side of the Paris cafes but really crammed outdoor seating. The food was great. I found this place on Unilocal.And was really glad I did. We sat out side and enjoyed a few glasses of wine. our food came out fast and was really yummy. I had the salmon tarte and the duck. Both outstanding taste.

Cadre sympathique. Bön service! Le club sandwich était bon mais sans plus! Les frites étaient excellentes. Le tiramisu au nutella était copieux mais lourd et presque ecoeurant!

This was our first meal in Paris after flying in from London. It was a little intimidating but the waitress there spoke English with us right away (hello yoga pants and black north face – what screams American tourist more than that? Ha) and she was really nice. My sister ordered range beef tartare and I ordered the steak and fries. What’s new?
The steak and fries were average. The fries were amazing (as they always are in Paris) but the steak was tough. I had asked for medium rare and the steak came out medium well. The beef tartare was tasty, but I’ve had better.
This place wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either. This is a good place to people watch. Wish I had more time to people watch but food is life.

This was my favorite restaurant in paris. I ordered the duck fillet with sweet potato au gratin and it was to die for. The bread was out of this world good. The wine was cheap and delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!!!

Une référence pour moi. Toujours tres bon, aucune mauvaise surprise. Un service efficace pour un prix presque trop bas tellement on aime. Pas besoin de mon commentaire pour faire marcher la boutique car c’est un lieu incontournable du quartier !

Une chouette brasserie pour un dîner en duo, trio ou quatuor, dans un cadre assez charmant et intimiste.
Déco typique de brasserie parisienne mais des espaces assez variés selon l’envie: une grande verrière non fumeur chauffée, quelques tables bistrot collées serrées à l’entrée, un espace plus intime vers le fond du resto.
Le service est très sympa, jeune, souriant et efficace.
La carte très large permet à chacun de trouver son bonheur. Les produits sont frais et on peut voir les cuistots aux fourneaux lors du passage aux toilettes. L’occasion idéale pour leur demander conseil!
Une des spécialités de la maison: les viandes, et surtout du boeuf sous toutes ses formes, servies avec petite salade croquante et frites bien croustillantes. Autre spécialement: les tartines et salades géantes. J’ai choisi la tartine «Chick & chic» sur les conseils du cuisinier: énorme tranche de pain de campagne, caviar aubergine, poulet, pesto, mozza fondante, tomates, le tout accompagné d’une belle grande salade bien fraîche. En dessert, bien sûr, quand on est Unilocaleur et qu’on lit les avis, on suit sans hésiter la reco de né pas manquer le tiramisu au nutella! attention il est énorme ! mais vraiment!!! j’aurai dû mettre ma main sur la photo pr donner une meilleure idée mais un seul pour 2 suffira, à moins de né pas vouloir partager ;-)

Large portions, prices weren’t too bad, friendly staff. Many wine options. English menu available for those who aren’t confident in their French.

Une de mes brasseries préférées!
Pour déjeuner toute seule ou en apéro avec les amis. Elle a une carte qui change selon la saison, nombreux plats du jour (je suis fan!), des glaces, le tiramisu au nutella, un très bon chocolat chaud et… des toilettes propres!

C’est un café restaurant sympathique, bien décoré ! On y mange bien, pas trop cher. Ça peut être bruyant quand il y a du monde

I was lucky enough to stay within walking distance from this gem on my recent trip to Paris. One evening, after a long day of touring the city, I went back to my room to relax for a bit when I realized how hungry I was. I didn’t have the energy to trek very far, so I Unilocaled the area to see what I could find around me — and this place popped up. I decided to give it a shot, since it had such good reviews.
It was still early rather early so I didn’t worry about it being too crowded. It was a bit chilly, so I decided to sit inside, and had a perfect view of the whole restaurant. It was very cute — rather comfortable feeling, but still allowed for a nice dining experience. I was alone, so the coziness was nice for me.
The service was excellent and the staff were all so nice (and good looking!) — I chatted with my server about his recent trip to Burning Man even!
I decided to go with the Steak and Frites — as well as a glass (ok maybe more than 1 glass…) of delicious red wine. It was perfectly cooked. Incredible. Melted in my mouth — and the frites were perefectly seasoned and crisp. I ate every single bite.
Then…since this date was going so well — decided to opt for dessert. I ordered the nutella tiramisu and a glass of champagne. I died. It was the best dessert in life. So delicious. I couldn’t have been happier, or more full.
I sipped my champagne leisurely and then walked myself home. It was a beautiful time. I highly recommend this place if you’re in Paris. Wonderful experience.

The service here was very good, the waiter was nice, attentive and even joked around with us in a non offensive way. The wines here are priced well and the desserts are okay. All in all it was a good experience. Oh, and they have a menu in English (with the same prices as the French menu).
Edit: we came back the next day during the daylight hours and had more food and dessert and just hung out for a couple hours. The desert was called Ile de Brehat and was made with fresh caramel and Berthillon ice cream. It was AMAZING! Plus one more star.

Tout ce qu’on attend d’une bonne brasserie. Qualité, quantité des plats, accueil exceptionnel, petites attentions envers chaque client, variété des plats du jour autour de produits phares. Incontournable.

Un exemple de ce que devrait être une brasserie. C’est simple, c’est généreux, c’est bon, le service est toujours adorable et relativement rapide. Ayant habité à côté pendant un certain temps, j’y suis allé un nombre incalculable de fois. Je prends souvent le burger ou le tartare, et je n’ai jamais été déçu. À né pas manquer.

So good! Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place. Visiting Paris and wanted a good but not expensive meal. My mom ordered a veggie lasagna, I had steak and fries with salad. Both were delicious! Steak was average but salad and fries were both great and made this an excellent meal. Cute outside area but we wanted quiet so we ate inside, there were families there, felt homey with locals; loved it!

Bonne brasserie sur l’avenue des gobelins dans mon 13ème adoré!
Tout d’abord le personnel est vraiment très sympa, ça m’a fait un choc pour vous dire à quel point, les serveurs étaient tous souriants, avenants et efficaces!
Quant aux plats, c’est de la cuisine traditionnelle, il y a aussi un burger et des salades. Pour ma part, j’y ai pris un magret et mon amie une tartine et c’était très bon donc une adresse que je retiens.
Après ça reste une brasserie donc c’est pas le café douillet où je m’éterniserai toute la journée mais pour y manger ça me convient parfaitement.

In Verse Toujours sitzt man nett, trinkt man und isst gut. Der Service ist freundlich und draussen kann man vorbeigehende Pariser beobachten. Ein gutes Café!

A la lecture des commentaires précédents il faut croire que nous né nous sommes pas rendus dans cette brasserie au bon moment…
Pour faire court, serveurs odieux qui nous ont délibérément ignoré à plusieurs reprises pour prendre notre commande…

The bistrot to be, ici tout est simple et parfait.
En passant tous les jours devant en bus, je me suis décidée a y venir un soir, je n’ai pas été déçue !
Les serveurs à 100 a l’heure mais supers sympas, avec toujours cette petite phrase en plus qui fait qui se sent pas le numéro de plus a servir, un menu de brasserie parfait dans son genre. J’ai dépassée les salades et burgers pour un tartare de saumon/​frites: c’est énorme, c’est beau, c’est bon.
Le vin est servi dans 3 ou 4 quantités différente, c’est très appréciable au niveau prix.
Des plats à environ 13 €, des vins de toutes les gammes.
La terrasse semble cool et l’intérieur est rassurant, c’est de la brasserie parisienne comme on les aime!
(Vive le 13eme!)

On m’a vendu l’endroit en me parlant de leur fameux tiramisu au nutella… Mais le plat était tellement conséquent que je n’ai pas pu en arriver jusque là. Le burger était en tout cas très bon, les frites peut être un peu fines et donc très cuites mais ça né m’a pas empêché de les manger.
Je déplorerais juste la taille des tables… si petites qu’on a du mal à y faire tenir deux assiettes.
Le cadre n’est pas non plus idyllique puisque donnant sur un rond point et une rue bien fréquentée mais c’était bon et c’est déjà pas mal !

We went for lunch today. Location near the busy traffic street not perfect. However tables are always crammed and the reason soon became clear: food is really good.
We were looking around at the other tables to find a tip on what to choose. I saw the fries and went for the burger. My wife saw a beautiful salmon salad and went for that.
With a bottle of chardonnay we paid 39 €.
The burger wad perfect and the salad delicious. The fries were awesome: thin and crunchy. Maybe I found out why we call them french fries :)
At the end we had great food and service was quick and kind.
The place is right near a topical point of the Latin Quarter, you may want to end up here after the long walk like we did.

Dans la série des brasseries typiquement parisiennes, voici le Verse Toujours, pratique pour bien manger même tard dans la nuit. Une adresse simple et efficace dotée d’une très grande terrasse.
Les salades sont copieuses et faites avec de bons produits. La Dolce Vita, servie sur un grand plateau avec une tartine tomate-​mozza et un gaspacho vert, est très bonne. La Voyage à Cancun se défend bien aussi avec ses mini-​wraps et son guacamole. Les plats sont bien présentés et abordables (comptez une dizaine d’euros pour une salade).
Pour finir, le menu vantait les mérites de leur fameux tiramisu au Nutella, et je dois dire qu’ils ont raison de se la péter un peu. Il y a plus fin comme aliment, pourtant ce dessert est savoureux et se mange sans faim. Le Nutella est fondu sous une mousse au mascarpone très réussie. En plus, il est servi dans un gros bocal. Miam !

J’y suis retourné pour dîner. Ils sont vraiment tip top au niveau du service. Aimables, naturels, marrants, quelle ambiance sympa.

This place was wonderful. A real local’s place and very satisfying. The salads were fresh, meat tasty, and the waitress was super understanding. She let me struggle through my French with a smile and kindness, and returned the favor by speaking slowly and with compassion. (She was also very kind to my seven-​year old daughter who fell asleep from jet let at our table.) Full of happy Parisians, a great vibe on a Tuesday evening.

Allezzz, deux ans plus tard, le Verse Toujours conserve toujours ses 4 étoiles dans mon coeur.
La carte est variée, la terrasse agréable (on peut choisir d’y être exposé au soleil ou un peu plus abrité à l’ombré), les plats carrément bons + maxi gros en quantité, le service assez rapide… Bref, 4 étoiles bien méritées.
C’est tout.

La première fois qu’on a mis les pieds au Verse Toujours c’était pour un meeting entre deux bandes de potes, l’une qui habite Maubert Mutualité, et l’autre Place d’Italie. Notre point de chute était censée être le Starbucks de Monge, mais, comme souvent, celui-​ci était archi bondé.
On s’est donc rabattu sur le premier bistrot venu: le Verse Toujours. J’ai tellement aimé, que depuis ce jour, dès que je suis dans le coin, je m’y arrête toujours !
Les points de séduction: super service, un bon mojito, un cheese-​burger au cantal (pour 13 euros si je me souviens bien), un tiramisu au nutella de folaï ! Franchement, une adresse qui n’a rien à envier à la chaîné de resto de l’équipe des fils à maman.
Bön et le coup qui m’a achevé, c’est la terrasse orientée plein soleil en fin de journée ! Magique :)

Les beaux jours arrivent, et inévitablement, il est primordial de trouver une bonne terrasse à proximité du boulot. Les avis de Unilocaleurs était tous élogieux, et on comprend rapidement pourquoi.
Nous sommes arrivés vers 13h30 sur place, et n’avons que peu attendu avant de nous voir assigner une place en terrasse. Le soleil dans le dos, nous avons enfin pu profiter de l’arrivée tardive des premières chaleurs. Petit tour par une carte bien étoffée qui aiguise l’appétit à toute vitesse. Et ça tombe bien, nous sommes servis rapidement.
Une salade bien garnie et une gourmandise sucrée pour le dessert, on s’en sort pour une addition peut-​être un peu salée (le problème de né pas avoir de menu du jour). Mais peu importe, le service est irréprochable et la nourriture de qualité. On reviendra.

When I first moved to Paris, this was one of the first restaurants I tried. Initially it was because it was close to my apartment and I was able to communicate okayish with my broken French. Turns out Verse Toujours has become one of my go to places!
I usually order one of the salads and split with a friend if I’m looking for something on the lighter side. The portions are large and the salads are so so fresh. The one I always have is a bed of mixed greens topped with salmon, salmon, beets, tomatos, bean sprouts, and it is perfectly dressed. I’m a bit of a salad snob so that says a lot! The cheese boards are really reasonable and equally as order worthy. Not a touristy place but the service is super friendly and menus in English are also available.
Oh, and DO NOT leave without ordering the Nutella Tiramisu!!!

Service ultra sympa, accueil personnalisé pour les réguliers. Très bonne nourriture, et salades bien conçues pour quand on veut pas trop charger (avec parfois un petit verre de soupe inclus)
Un tartare à tomber pour 12 €, j’ai pas encore trouvé mieux pour le moment.
Pour moi, la meilleure brasserie du coin. Seul inconvénient, c’est assez bruyant.

The service here is very friendly, but a bit forgetful. I had to ask for things several times before they were done. Food is fine and good size plates. I’d probably recommend ordering off the specials board rather than the menu for best deal on food.
The night I went, they had Paris-​Brest on the dessert menu. That was the highlight of an otherwise quite average meal.

Delightful brasserie. Not a touristy spot, with charming waitress fluent in English. The provincial children and gnocci in cream sauce was delicious, but show stopper was the French onion soup.

Bonne carte, excellent service, une valeur sûre.
A essayer: le burger maison au Cantal, le tiramisu (à partager !) au Nutella.

After reading Marjo’s review, I was quite excited about the place. However, I was disappointed! The food was good but nothing exceptional.
My biggest complaint would be the portions: small! I had the Ballade en montagne salad and frankly, I was hungry after that. So I had a dessert: a crumble; good but nothing great. I went there with two friends: one thought it was so-​so (he had the entrecôte [which was not an entrecôte, btw!], with a bit of fries and a bit of salad, and the café gourmand with a tasteless and dry cookie and a weird nutella tiramisu) and the other liked it a lot (he had the petite marmite de porc à la créolé [it did smell good] and the cheesecake [he loved it but I thought it was not that tasty]).
The place was packed which meant that the waithers were busy. They kept bumping into my chair without apologizing.
Overall, it was not such a great experience… Dommage!
And, BTW, the name is «Verse Toujours», in reference to an old saying linked to brasseries!
