From the moment I checked in this hotel is NOT a 4-star accommodation. The woman at the front desk could not be bothered not a very welcoming attitude. The layout of the room is awkward. The space around the bed was minimal. I could not imagine sharing the space with another person; however, the room has some charm from the decorations to the iron detail on the windows, but that’s where the charm ends. They only had ONE English speaking channel(I get it its France, but be accurate in your description). The Wi-Fi was deplorable. The Wi-Fi would connect with my laptop or my cell, but not both. There were times where it would go out. It listed that there was a business center… the business center consists of the front desk personnel scooting to the side to let you utilize their computer. There is NO room service as stated in the description. The lobby of the hotel is nicely decorated, but the cracked window quickly takes away from that. There is a constant stench right in front of the hotel where they leave garbage. I had a leak in my bathroom and kept having to put towels down to keep the floor from getting wet. Every time I’d alert the staff to the issue they’d say OK, but would NEVER do anything about it! There was a stain on my headboard as well and I personally own a softer bed and linens. There’s also a front desk male that works third shift that is constantly attempting to seduce female tenants(including myself) offering drinks and then migrating them to the couch for additional conversation. He even called my room as an attempt to ask again if I wanted a drink. After a while it became a total nuisance. This was the WORST experience I’ve had at a so-called 4-star hotel. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone expecting a luxury stay. If you just want to get to Paris and have a place to lay your head then go for it. Otherwise, I would recommend a U.S. based hotel such as Hilton or Hyatt where you know the star rating and amenities listed are going to be accurate.

The designers of this new hotel have taken their signature from the nearby Parisian universities and Grande Bibliothèque(National Library), making this the hotel a visual tribute to literature and writers. It has a glass door and front façade covered in manuscripts, a nicely laid out vestibule with good chairs and tables, suitable for actually relaxing, not just sitting at uncomfortably while waiting for a taxi. Sadly the theme doesn’t continue to named suites or any other real refinement of the concept . On the other hand, the breakfast here is really good: French bread, butter, croissants, pain au chocolate, tea, milk or coffee served in a pretty breakfast room. The bedrooms benefit from flatscreen TV and new bathrooms throughout, the suites have Jacuzzis too. In the style of most newly refurbished boutique hotels, there is no restaurant but staff can recommend local eateries that cater especially to Villa Lutece’s guests. Rooms are still small by American standards but have good storage.

Paris — mon amour!
