+ low price - unfriendly reception, bad atmosphere, ugly and dirty rooms, no wifi One of the worst hostels I have ever been to. The hostel is located in a place that seems to be the most ugly place of Perpignan. It is hidden in a side street of Avenue Grande Bretagne. On the other side of the hostel, a main road passes and makes many noise. From afar, the building makes a beautiful impression, but the closer you get you realize that the house is really derelicted. When you open the gate to enter the yard a barking dog rushes towards you. We waited nearly 10 minutes in front of the reception desk, despite ringing nobody came. The entrance hall is small, atmospheric simply unpleasant, looks cold and without any personal touch. The impression continues in the room which was large, but was about the atmosphere of a prison cell. It surely hadn’t been properly cleaned since the last guests(the toilet actually was ckean). Although I had been advised on the phone, I should not arrive late, at one o’clock in the night the door opened and an apparently drunken Spanish truck driver began to talk to me on Spanish telling me his whole life story. I couldn’t sleep anyway, because at that time there was still noise down in the court, which did not cease even after several requests from my part. The breakfast the next morning was typical for the french youth hostels: bread, moldy(!) Butter, jam and coffee. For things to do for the day, the young lady at the front desk didn’t have any proposition, she even hadn’t the times for the bus to the beach.(Take the bus line direction Canet from Perpignan main railway station). And we couldn’t look them up on the internet because there is none, though so indicated on the website of the FUAJ. We were glad when we left the hostel after two days. I will NEVER come back again.
