Great little hotel in a beautiful little village high on the hill. Make yourself at home and stay a few days. I wish we had more time. This would make a great home base to explore the area. Good food at the restaurant just down the street which is associated with this hotel. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I have never had a desire to travel to France. And, I have never liked French food. I was sort of forced to do both recently when I attended a retreat that was only available in France. The organizer of the retreat arranged for us to stay at L’Ancienne Auberge in Puycelsi in the Tarn area of France, which is in the South West part of the country. I fell in love — with L’Ancienne Auberge, with Dorothee’(the proprietor and chef), with Puycelsi and with French food. My room was quaint, beautiful and extremely comfortable. It overlooked the square of Puycelsi and provided a lovely view of the clock tower. The staff — most of whom speak English very well — were extremely accommodating, charming and very kind. The food — pure heaven. Dorothee’ cooks with fresh, locally grown ingredients. You can taste the love with which she prepares her dishes. I can honestly say that I have never eaten as well — and may never again … until my next trip to Puycelsi. If you have an opportunity to travel to France, do yourself a favor and plan to spend several days in the region around Puycelsi and plan to stay at L’Ancienne Auberge. I promise you will not regret it. For those who would love to plan a longer trip, have no fear. Dorothee’ has recently purchased a home just a few minutes walk from L’Ancienne Auberge which she plans to turn into a B&B. The renovations should be complete by March or April of 2011.
