Why do we love Auberge Rouge? At the heart I think it’s Monsieur, who, with a twinkle in his eye, will play and joke and make you laugh. It’s the sort of place where he wears a t-​shirt that says «I am a virgin (but this t-​shirt is old)». The meals change with the market and the seasons, and are traditional in the best French sense of the word. You never leave hungry or thirsty, and you will regret it if you don’t at least try to make some room for the homemade desserts.
With a small child we’ve never made it out for their musical evenings, but they look like a lot of fun. The patio has recently been refurbished and is a lovely place to enjoy a long lunch.
