Le Paul Bert

We finally made it to this bistro on our present trip to Paris. It didn’t start well. We arrived for a 9:00pm reservation which they could not find (they write reservations in an ancient dilapidated book) after much back and forth, they determined that the reservation was down the street at another Paul Bert restaurant (newer, funkier and owned by the same «boss») My husband was upset naturally and was able to persuade the man running the show to sit us, by now it was 9:45pm. He gave us the worst table by the kitchen but as it turned out, I was able to see what was happening in that diminutive kitchen. Last February, I caught a rerun of Anthony Bourdain show, it was about this bistro and how they cooked their famous pepper steak. Let me just say, they certainly do not make that way at all!!! The sauce is pre made and the meat is not the quality of our beef in the U. S and of course, this being France, they charge accordingly. After you add the 15.00 Euro cab fare to this sketchy neighborhood (vestiges of «Taken» came to mind” I would not come here for such forgettable fare.

After 3 hours of shopping and haggling over the prices of linens, art and silver, I was ready for a decent meal. And I got just that over lunch at Le Paul Bert. Located in what may be the world’s largest outdoor market, this place was p-​a-​c-​k-​e-​d for lunch on a sunny Saturday. There may be a way to fit more tables in the maze of rooms, but I doubt it. To get in the seat, tables and chairs had to be re-​positioned. Once we were seated, we were stuck. Glad we didn’t need a comfort break.
Lunch was fine. The waiter knew little English, but I knew enough of the menu to get by and lunch was fine. I had choucroute garnie and it was quite nice. I usually don’t eat sausage, so I considered this a true treat. And I ate a bunch of it. The sausage was tasty and the potatoes were good. But it was overpriced. Can’t give it more than 3 stars.
My wife, now two months removed from the trip, doesn’t even remember what she ate, and I don’t either. So it could not have been that memorable.
Next time, I may grab something quicker than lose an hour of shopping. But if you want a break, and don’t mind paying a bit too much with decent, at best, service, try this spot.

Other than our completely incompetent waiter, this place was great. He was slow, rude, forgetful, precise… ugh. But the ambiance and food were great, y friend ordered a «salade» which, much to our surprise, was a warm dish with scallops. Delish! Best of the day.

Parfaitement situé à la sortie du marché Paul Bert, cette grande brasserie est une des bonnes adresses pour un déjeuner aux puces malgré son positionnement incontournable qui la rend un peu trop touristique.
Carte riche. Trop peut être pour être complètement honnête.
Burger au reblochon correctement garni, dommage qu’il soit fait de ces pains complètement standards, tout secs et sans saveur. Frites sympas, visiblement «maison», assurément fraîches: taille moyenne, bien blanches. 18 euros le burger.
Desserts corrects, finalement moins lourds que d’apparence: tarte aux chouquettes et au fraises (8,50 quand même) et macarons fraises et framboises.
Service est vraiment trop touristique à base de «vous prendrez une vittel, une badoit ou une san pé ?», «qu’est ce que je vous sers en apéritif ?» et autres poncifs de serveurs de bord de mer.
L’été la terrasse est franchement très sympa et donc logiquement prise d’assaut.

accueil lamentable. serveur à l’ouest. cher (2 croque monsieur moyen et 2 boissons: 37 euros !) service longuet. bref, une adresse à éviter !!

Attention Connard!!! Nous avons etait hyper mal recu!!! Nous avions une poussette et un nourrisson avec nous Nous nous sommes fait jeté par la serveuse comme des mals propres. Attention Aletre resto de connard!

un bon burger en pleines puces st ouen? c’est possible .
et un burger au st marcelin? ou au bleu ?
il est la !! et plutot tres bon, avec en prime une terrasse ensoleillée (mais prise d’assault) des gens detendus …
mais avant il faut traverser toute la raclure, pick poket et autres parasites a la sortie du metro, ou bien faire le trajet en scoot, ou bien y aller en hummer avec une mitrailleuse lourde (je suis decidement une vraie garce hi hi hi)

tres bon rapport qualité prix et pour ajouter une tres belle terasse qui permet de faire une pause aux puces. bonne cuisine et bonne accuueil

Si vous êtes en balade aux puces de Clignancourt, c’est l’endroit où il faut s’arrêter pour une pause déjeuner ou une pause gourmande.
Collé au marché Paul-​Bert (meubles), c’est une brasserie qui existe depuis toujours aux Puces (depuis elle a été renovée !). Cuisine traditionnelle avec de bons petits plats en sauce servis dans des cocottes: poule au pot, lapin à la moutarde .
A né pas louper leur chocolat chaud maison qui est servi dans des petits pots: pot chocolat et pot avec le lait afin que vous puissiez faire votre propre mélange. L’hiver c’est un régal avec une gauffre ou une crêpe !
