Two nice restaurants to have dinner at, «Rivea» and«B». Great, especially if you intend to party later on at the night club, Les Caves du Roy. Excellent combination, super nice feeling having dinner and then moving on to one of the most famous clubs in the world! Can’t be much better!

My wife and I were scheduled to stay at the Byblos this weekend as part of our trip to the south of France on the weekend of June 26, 2015. This would be our second time, of probably many, staying at this hotel as we very much enjoy St Tropez and previously had an excellent experience with the Byblos. I write this review after having had a very bad bike accident 2 days ago, in Provence requiring immediate surgery and probably another 5 days in hospital in France. Certainly not the way we expected to spend our vacation, but I am simply appalled by the Byblos’ response to my request to canceling our reservation due to this unforeseen circumstance. The initial response was to tell me that there was nothing they could do as we were passed the cancellation period, and that they were sorry I was in the hospital. Since I charged the stay(pre-paid) to American Express, American Express also attempted to get a refund for me. After I talked to them, the Byblos requested that a supervisor at Amex write them a letter which included a request for refund, personal medical information like the type of injury I had, the name of my doctor, and the hospital I was staying at, along with proof of my medical condition! Shocked by this request, I provided the information anyway, as the charges for the stay were substantial. After ‘reviewing’ the information, the Byblos manager, via emailed letter from«Sylvie» in reservations, on Byblos letterhead, responded that they would only still be charging us $ 1500 for our stay and were ‘sorry to learn that I was unable to travel to St. Tropez’. I was still in the hospital a week later, when we were supposed to be at the Byblos, after major surgery. My wife and I are frequent travelers and have never dealt with such a short-sighted policy at a high-end hotel, particularly in light of the fact that the hotel is completely full and would have no problem selling our room during this very popular time to travel to St Tropez. In any case, after getting out of the hospital and back home, we will be pursuing a better resolution to this after I get out of the hospital, through various means, but I thought anyone considering staying here should know about the arrogance and lack of customer care they are likely to encounter.

We stayed here in August and I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms have been remodeled and have modern bathrooms. They are quite large for Europe. We had our own patio with lounge chairs that was quite private. The gym had great machines and the breakfast buffet was lovely. We had lunch by the pool one day and the food was good albeit very expensive. The location is great as it’s right off the place des lices and it’s easy to walk to the port and all the shopping in St. Tropez. They offer free shuttles to the beaches during the summer, which is a huge plus. The club, la cave, at the bottom of the hotel, is a great place to go for a night of dancing. I’m giving them four stars as they did not honor our virtuoso amenities(free breakfast and an upgrade) and also the prices are quite high for the quality of the rooms. I think many older hotels in Europe get away with crazy prices for their reputation more than the quality of the rooms.

My favorite place in St. Tropez! Rooms are nice but the scene is what your paying for! Beautiful people sunbathing and the food is killer! They have a great jazzy band playing, and at 12am the club downstairs opens with resident dj JACK-E spinning some fresh mixes. Bottle service was very pricey but if your going to party like a rock star this is where to do it!

Hey baby, welcome back to St Tropez !

Of all the hotels in St Tropez, Le Byblos is the most famous — summing-up in people’s minds what it’s all about. Which is odd… because it’s not that special and it’s not particularly representative of the town. There’s nothing wrong with the rooms or the service and its position is close to the centre etc., but the truth is that, if you’re spending this sort of money, there are much better options. Château de la Messardiere while a short drive out of town has stunning views and breath-taking architecture — both of which the Byblos lacks; Le Yaca is even more central and has a far more chic and genuinely relaxed«St Tropez» feel; and Residence de la Pinede, which is a short walk from town, has superb views across the bay, an excellent beach and far more style. All equally expensive but all much better choices… unless, of course, you really do want your Ferrari parked outside the front for all to see.
