Le Bistro en Face

Ce lieu… Ce lieu… Doit bien avoir quelque chose d’un peu magique. On s’y sent bien. Tout se pose. A deux ou a plusieurs, on se retrouve, vraiment… Ce fut mon ressenti, aussi simple et fort que cela puisse être.
Je n’ai pas essayé la restauration, seulement les vin dans les gammes moyenne et bonne: pas exceptionnel. Et alors? Venez-​y seulement comme dans une enclave, un peu en dehors du tumulte des bars branchés qui l’encerclent. Avec quelqu’un, avec qui vous souhaitiez partager un moment, un échange important. Cet endroit en sera l’écrin.

Absolutely in love!!! Le Bistro en Face was my go-​to bar while in Strasbourg — my friends and I just couldn’t get enough! Not only was the staff amazing, BUT… the food! The drinks! The service! By the third night in we felt like regulars, they were so warm and welcoming. We were even taken around town to other bars with the crew for more drinks and fun.
And let me be honest, one of the best things about this little joint was the cheese and meat plate. We had not one, but two in one night! I just can’t say enough great things about this little find. And a plus as a traveler, free wi-​fi.

Bien dejeuné sur cette mignonne terrasse, l’accueil est sympa. Petite carte tout a fait correcte.

I know of Bistro En Face because it is currently (2013) the host of a Tuesday night language exchange meeting for expats, locals and other people interested in sticking language and culture in a proverbial blender. The bar is warm, has good food which I only sampled recently, and the staff is fun and happy to be there.
One of my first times there, a bartender working his last night broke out cases of glow sticks. I kid you not, THOUSANDS. All patrons were outfitted in armor of multicolored bright sticks like we were some partying burning man tribe. This was certainly the exception but if you come here, you will either relax and enjoy a fine glass of wine, or later on party with your friends and bartender in a quite relaxed, sexy and fun café/​bar environment.
Their carte/​menu is impressive but the best part of this restaurant is the kind, relaxed service and the off-​the-​beaten-​path feel. How this happens 1 block off of the most walked road in town (Grand Rue) is beyond me but if you are here over an evening, check the place out!

Petit Bistro,
Avec une terrasse de capacité moyenne couverte par 2 grands parasols située dans une petite rue pavée. Petite salle élégante dans sa simplicité, déco plutôt ancien restauré, murs en fausses pierres Ça fait joli quand même ^^ et service agréable. Un bémol de taille, pour les ceux qui aiment prendre part à l’architecture d’un comptoir ^^, IL N’Y A PAS DE COMPTOIR. Sympa pour un rencard, ou une petite sortie tranquille avec son amoureux (se). Cet endroit n’est pas conçu pour la fête et de temps en temps c’est plutôt agréable.

Zen, restons zen…
Commençons par le positif: nos plats étaient plutôt bons. De quoi se plaint-​on alors? Accueil peu agréable, 1h d’attente pour commander puis une bonne ½ h pour être servis. Nous avons demande 2 fois du pain sans succès. Lors de notre visite, nous avons pu constater né pas être les seuls à né pas être satisfaits du service (une cliente de la table d’à côté a même fait régime malgré elle, son plat n’est jamais arrivé). Dommage !

Le bistro en face — auf deutsch: das Bistro gegenüber. Der Name ist Programm, denn das Bistro ist wirklich total schnörkellos, aber dennoch liebevoll. Mittags gibt es ein paar Kleinigkeiten zu essen, ansonsten sitzen die Leute hier bei einem Glas Rotwein oder einem Kaffee zusammen. Herrlich, um die Zeit an sich vorbeiziehen zu lassen. An einigen Tischen wird Schach gespielt. Vor dem Bistro gibt es einen kleinen Platz mit ein paar Außentischen. Hier wird man garantiert kein Sauerkraut angeboten bekommen. Der übliche Straßburg-​Bustourismus geht hier nicht vorbei und kehrt hier erst recht nicht ein. Hier sitzen eben die Leute von nebenan… im Bistro gegenüber.
