Weihnachtsmarkt

Dieser sehr schöné Weihnachtsmarkt findet direkt vor dem Münster statt. Hier findet man alles. Egal ob Lebensmittel, Handwerkskunst, Kerzen, Souveniers, Speisen und Getränke. Hier sind die Besucher aus der ganzen Welt zu Gast, wie man an Sprachfetzen bemerkt. Alle Häuser im Umfeld des Marktes sind liebevoll weihnachtlich geschmückt. Auch hier herrscht starke Polizeipräsenz, die schon im Vorfeld darauf achtet dass sich nirgendswo Gruppen bilden. Es passt alles nicht so recht zusammen, aber nach den Geschehnissen in Frankreich hat man dafür volles Verständnis.

Christmas markets originated as a means to support local communities in the German, French, Dutch, Scandinavian regions during the winter months when agricultural activity has winded down. If you ever make it there after December 3 until January 6^th, these markets are everywhere. Probably one of the liveliest of the Christmas markets, was the Weihnachtsmarkt in Strasbourg, FR.
The French Xmas markets in Strasbourg seem to have a unique vibe and active participation from the town. I loved this town, it’s French but there are lots of German customs, traditions, food in addition to French cuisine. Lots of families and locals drinking vin chaud (warm wine, gluhwein at German stands), hot apple cider, hot orange tea (so amazingly good), eating local fare (waffles with various toppings, bratwurst and many many sandwiches) and more vin chaud et beaucoup vin chaud. This is the Alsace region also so I totally loved the locally produced Gewurstraminers and Rieslings (German whites) that taste uniquely delicious — unlike the lackluster varieties we get in the states. I was never really a fan of these wines but, I was drinking it every day with a passion– ’cause it was too good to pass up. The fun and almost frenetic crowds woke me up and brought me immediately into the Christmas spirit.
Traversing Place Kleber (the center of town), one gets to experience the vibe to the holiday traditions, the really busy local businesses and market stalls to the grand and expansive Christmas markets in the center of town. As I walked into the main square I was smacked with the blaring romantic flashback. Instead of Christmas carols loudly amplified, the sound of my favorite songster (Aznavour) singing one of my fave songs echoed throughout the expanse of the plaza and bleeeeeewwww my mind!!!
That put me in a holiday mood with a romantic edge in a jiffy. Only the French! :))

Aaah, humer, regarder et se laisser envahir par la magie du marché de Noël. Le centre de Strasbourg à des allures de village où il fait bon se promener :-) musique, lumières, spécialités culinaires ou artisanales tout y est ! Penser à rester impérativement jusqu’à la nuit tombée pour voir les illuminations !

Avec les années qui passent il n’y aura bientôt plus assez d’étoiles pour le noter tant les efforts pour améliorer et conserver l’esprit de cette fête sont perceptibles tous les ans. Cette année un point particulier à été apporté à la qualité du vin chaud !

Strassburg nennt sich nicht umsonst Capitale de Noël, die Weihnachtahauptstadt. Die gesamte Stadt ist geschmückt und man entkommt der weihnachtlichen Stimmung nicht, selbst wenn man das möchte. Teilweise ist das ganze etwas kitschig aber die Geschmäcker sind eben verschieden.

Ahhh! Le fameux marché de noël de Strasbourg!
Le nom exact (attention bien plus facile à écrire qu’à prononcer!) est Christkindelsmärik (textuellement marché de l’enfant Jésus).
2 millions de visiteurs vont y passer en décembre. Moi également, pour la 4ème année de suite. L’ambiance de noël omniprésente justifie à elle seule les 2h20 de TGV!
Situé à différents endroits de la ville, davant la gare, sur la place Kléber, Gutenberg, au coeur de la Petite France, devant la cathédrale et, pour la plus grosse partie, sur la Place Broglie!
Au total quelques 600 chalets. Mais pas de panique, les alentours sont bien plus originaux que les banalités vendues dans les chalets!
C’est bien plus l’ambiance de cette ville, et cette région, à la période de noël qui vaut le déplacement. Bien plus que tous ces chalets. A l’intérieur des objets plus ou moins du coins (souvent made in china…), des hectolitres de vins chauds (vin blanc chaud très original), du jus d’orange chaud, et des gateaux excellents!
Petite nouveauté de cette année, pas de churros dans les chalets! On retrouve enfin le vrai esprit de noël!
En revanche, prévoyez votre hotel à l’avance. Les hotels de Strasbourg, en plus de doubler, tripler, parfois plus leur prix sont surbookés!

Die 6 Weihnachtsmärkte sind über die gesamte historische Innenstadt verteilt. Die größeren Straßen und Gassen sind alle mit Lichterketten geschmückt, auch viele Häuser wurden heraus geputzt. Das ergibt im Dunkeln eine unheimlich tolle Atmosphäre.
Man kann sich gut die einzelnen Märkte erlaufen. Schön ist vor allem die Auswahl an Waren. Es hat nicht jeder 3. Stand die gleichen Sachen, Essen und Trinken sind weniger dominant als auf anderen Weihnachtsmärkten.
Ich empfehle, die P+R Parkplätze zu nutzen. Diese haben über 5.000 Plätze und sind mit Straßenbahn oder Bus sehr gut angebunden. Man bezahlt für den ganzen Tag 2,80 EUR, darin sind Fahrkarten für den öffentlichen Nahverkehr für alle Auto-​Insassen enthalten.

Le Marché de Noël de Strasbourg!
Je né sais plus vraiment quoi penser, autant j’aime la période de Noël, autant je suis devenu sceptique sur le marché de Noël. Faut-​il vraiment présenter tout et n’importe quoi sur un tel marché sous prétexte d’animation et de revendication d’être, pour Strasbourg, la capital de Noël!
Il est certain qu’on a perdu l’âme et l’esprit de Noël à Strasbourg.
Si je me place du coté marketing j’avoue que c’est une sacré réussite, il suffit de s’y rendre pour comprendre!
Comme j’ai encore l’âme d’un enfant je préfère me rendre sur des marché plus intimistes sur lequel règne encore un peu plus ce fameux esprit de Noël!
Ou alors soyons encore plus rêveur, prenez un peu de temps et allez vous installer devant la crèche dans une petite église oubliée, ou allez vous promener au fond d’un vallon boisée un jour de neige (ça devient aussi de plus en plus rare), vous en profiterez sûrement plus!
