La Ferme de Rolle

I live in les États Unis (USA). I’m Canadian and I speak/​write French, but this review will be primarily in English. I looked up «farm restaurants» while in the US and this came up. It’s way off the beaten path — Ternant in Dijon — but is worth it.
It’s a scenic drive, about a half hour, off A31 and A6 — just north of Nuits Saint Georges. I mused to my wife as we were driving around the countryside, «This reminds me of country roads in Western Europe» (duh… heh). The owner (think it was Madame Sangoy?) was nice enough to speak English to my wife.
Their fare is definitely «farm restaurant.» Had a really tasted roasted ham («jambon cuit à la broche, ses trois sauces») with the salad with mustard as a dressing and then ice cream with red currant sauce. Definitely the tastiest ham that I’ve had. They had three different «dijon» mustards: sauce moutarde à l’ancienne (that’s the standard coarse grain Dijon mustard with very early white wine — like early chardonnay), sauce vin rouge (usually like the pinot noir) and sauce époisses affiné au marc de Bourgogne (marc is the distilled/​concentrated remnants of white wines after they’ve done their earlier presses — it’s got the alcohol levels of and some similarities to cognac).
You can also rent rooms there, but we didn’t stay.

Décor terroir très sympa, perdu au milieu de nul part. Dépaysant. Mais le menu campagnard n’est pas à la hauteur: entrée bonne mais plat décevant (une sauce avec le poulet grillé aurait été la bienvenue). Par contre le plateau de fromage lui est à la hauteur (petite pensée au serveur qui m’a soutenu que le chaource est savoyard !!!). Dessert régional à base de pain d’épices. À retenir pour un repas entre amis mais pour y manger une bonne gastronomie.

Restaurant perdu sur les hauteurs de Gevrey Chambertin, heureusement c’est bien signalé.
Cuisine traditionnelle à prix abordable, salade gratinée à l’époisses, escargots, jambon à la broche, nombreuses grillades …
Service correct, bonne carte des vins.
Petit plus, des encas sont proposés les après midi pour les randonneurs.
Agréable étape.
