If you really want to taste the food of the region then l’Auberge du Brelan is one of the best options in these parts. Run by a delightful family focused on using only the best local products every single item on the menu is cooked with the region’s traditions in mind. The restaurant is a beautiful place for a relaxed family meal on warm evenings. With a choice of tables nestled in nooks and crannies of the garden or in the covered restaurant area, it has a sunny Meditteranean feel to it. There are also play areas, table tennis and table football to keep the youngsters occupied if you want to linger over a digestif, close enough to keep an eye on them but far enough away not to bother anybody. The food is always a delight. Last night I enjoyed a creamy cassoulet de poisson gratinee followed by filet mignon du porc au bleu one of the best moelleux au chocolat I have ever eaten and a bottle of Buzet rose. Every dish was delicious and the service informal but perfect. Bill for four of us with Kir Royales? 120 Euros. Bargain! Make sure you phone before you go as the restaurant is not open all year. It seems to open Aprilish to Octoberish.
