Arklow is a wonderful town on the Wicklow coast, but it’s not exactly what one would call glamorous. A lot of the restaurants and pubs are no nonsense single purpose entities. You go to a pub, you get beer… You want food? Go to a restaurant. In all honesty, Christies doesn’t look particularly special. Visually speaking, the exterior doesn’t exactly stand out and the interior is generic. However, it’s when you meet the bar staff that you suddenly get impressed. The staff are so friendly and the place is so comfortable is at the point where I found myself looking around where I was sitting for the remote to change the channel on the telly. This, of course, was met with much giggling from those around me and much embarrassment on my part… Anyway… The food is quite good indeed! It’s your typical pub grub with a few extra bits in between. So don’t go there expecting the latest haute cuisine guff, you ain’t gonna get it here. I enjoyed some home-made burgers in pepper sauce that were absolutely amazing! The prices were pretty excellent too! If you’re in Arklow and feeling slight peckish, it is my humble opinion that you should go here and get food.
