What can I say about a train station. Its a single line track without much service and you often have to go to Kildare town or Portarlington to get connections to other parts of Ireland as its not possible to do from here. The building itself is nice and historic but God help you if you have mobility needs. In general trains in Ireland are expensive and at peak hours you could be standing for the entire journey. I spent 5 hours on a train the other day as it broke down. It should have taken one hour. Many people missed flights because of it so I think Ill give it a miss when going to the airport. Location wise its on the Dublin side tucked into a corner in Church Rd so you can avoid the town if your coming from the Dublin or Carlow Rd. There is all day parking next to the train station and also opposite it next to the park.

As good as it can get for downtown Athy. A very quaint and quiet station located steps away from the main streets and square. Love that one can catch a direct, non-stop, express train from Heuston to Athy! All Aboard!
