We were in Bantry, and lunchtime fast approaching, and here, close to hand, right on Wolfe Tone Square was a homely-looking restaurant called De Barra’s. One of my rules is to try to eat where the locals eat, and this fitted the bill perfectly. Most of the clientele seemed to be people on a shopping trip, which meant it was crowded and noisy, but not annoyingly so. And, it was inexpensive. Their Beef and Guinness stew came in a generous serving, which looked even more generous as it was piled atop a goodly portion of boiled potatoes. And, it tasted as good as it looked.
