I have to say we were all very impressed when the old Science canteen was revamped and Elements was born. They seemed to have thought about the idea that the captive audience of students might pay a euro or two more for better food than was being served elsewhere. And they were right. With it’s comfortable, extensive seating and sheer newness lots of people tried the food and found it to be good. The newness did wear off after awhile and the menu got changed a few times, usually offering less options. However they did manage to have a standard which was consistently higher than the main restaurant. Prices were more expensive but they usually have some good value specials. During the day you’ll get sandwiches, soup and salads with some other hot dishes and in the evening it heads more towards burgers, which are good quality. They’ve recently added Apache Pizza and have pushed their prices down, so there are some good deals to be had here, which are competitive in price now as well as quality. it’s still a nice place for lunch, and they do say they open late(up to 10om) although in practice I’ve found this somewhat less reliable as they seem to close about 4pm out of term and on Fridays. It’s probably the best place to eat on campus.
