This is my local barber shop in Belmullet. There are 2 proper barber shops in the town of Belmullet but this is the most modern. There are also many hair salons/hair dressers and they also cut men’s hair but if the sound of gossip and hair dryers blowing gets on your nerves along with the over powering smell of hair dye then go to the girls in the Barber shop. Just relocated from up the street this barber shop has a large waiting room with TV, magazines and daily papers. Through an open double doors into another large room with the chopping and cutting happens. 3 stations but only usually the two girls working there with another part timer at the w’end sweeping up the raw material for the wig maker… Annie Mai is the owner who is fully trained and her sister Josephine is still training. Both do a very good job and will have the banter with you if you want. Does all the usual and is talking about getting into hot towel shaves etc which would be a welcome treat every now and again. Usually full of laughter and a great atmosphere.
