Everything is great there from the staff to the food and the cuteness of the place. Lunch can be a little expensive but it’s certainly worth stopping by for a treat. The warm brownie is to die for.

The Mellow Fig is a lovely, cosy little café. I love the cute, pink polka dot and pastel themed décor. I went for a late lunch by myself, after 3pm. The restaurant was quiet and did not have to wait for a table. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I had heard about the cute tea-cosies at The Mellow Fig, and I wanted to see them for myself, so I ordered a pot of tea. My tea-cosy was knitted pink and yellow, very cute. My sandwich came with coleslaw, and a small side salad. The meal was tasty. Overall the staff were friendly and the food was good. I’ll definitely bring some some friends next time, for a pot of tea. The cakes look good too, I can’t wait to try some.

Super cosy spot nestled just off black rock Main Street. This rather large café is so perfectly designed that you feel that your popping into your aunts house for a cup of tea. Lunch times you should expect to wait however, which is fine because you can proper yourself up on their oversized couch and have a look through the menu. The menu is perfect, and the presentation is definitely more than you’d expect for this shabby-chic spot. We opted for the ginger and carrot soup, very tasty and so wholesome with no watering down in sight, tasty veggie wrap and the burger in a bowl. Great portions that leave you full. Staff are so welcoming and relaxed. Id love to try out their mellow movie nights where they screen an old school favourite with plenty of refreshments and popcorn. Menu was also coeliac and vegetarian friendly. So too were some of the tasty baked treats by the cashier… Heavenly chocolate cake anyone?

The mellow fig. First off I love the name. It make me feel when I go ther I’m gona be chilllllliiinnn. The vegi wrap is gudd. The hummus is defo the best part it’s so chunky and it’s just delectable. I’ve had the steak sambo ther before that’s rele gud and the croc Monsieur is yum too. It’s a cool café and the food is good but for some reason I find I don’t crave it or don’t go rushing out to it get it. That I cannot explain to you, I guess it’s just a lil forgettable.

This place fairly epitomizes ‘shabby chic’. It’s cute and cosy. I had lunch here yesterday, and it was pretty darn tootin tasty! The potions are sizable and nicely presented. It’s got really great vegetarian options too. The staff were really lovely and chilled out. The downside for me was their outdoor seating which is pretty much on the road, but Blackrock is a bit limited for al fresco dining so at least its something.

Going with a group? The Mellow Fig takes reservations. Yummy and unusual choice of lentils in the vegetarian breakfast. I’m a fan.

Only my second visit here(I’m unfortunately not that often in Blackrock) and both times I only got to taste their drinks. Today it was their hot chocolate and that was good. I met with a friend and we stayed for two hour and it was perfectly ok for them that we had only one drink each during that time. I had to wait a bit for my friend so one of the staff even offered me the newspaper while waiting — all to make me feel comfortable and looked after. And I like their décor — that mix of different little bits and pieces but still choosen on purpose and with love to details. Hopefully next time I’ll get to taste their food too — the menu looked very good.

A great place in Blackrock! It’s just off the main street so could be missed if you’re not looking for it ;) I love the country kitchen feel to it. It’s bright and warm and the staff are lovely too. I tried the hummus wrap and it was delicious! I think it would be a nice place to take the laptop and do a bit of work so I might just try that very soon ;)

I was meeting a friend who works in Blackrock for lunch and since I have no knowledge of restaurants in the area, I told her that I trusted her judgement in picking a spot. I was definitely not disappointed in her choice, The Mellow Fig. The décor is what I’d describe as shabby chic– you know, like mismatched teacups and the like. Very girly, very quirky. The food was really nice. I had a spelt, green bean, fava bean, feta, mixed greens, and gooseberry salad with chicken. The lemon dressing went really nicely with the salty feta and that tart gooseberries. I was worried that with so many ingredients it wouldnt be very cohesive, but it was delightful. My friend had shrimp cocktail with brown bread which she enjoyed as well. I will definitely try to get back next time I’m in Blackrock.

It was quite by accident that I found this funky little restaurant. I was taken aback by how friendly the staff were. As one reviewer said they actually looked pleased to see you and serve you which isn’t the case with a lot of places nowadays. I had a bowl of the most magnificent tomato, vegetable soup with lovely big chunks of vegetable and accompanied by some equally delicious brown bread. Alas that was all I had time to eat as my parking disc was about to expire. I had never heard of the place but can’t wait to return for proper lunch with my friends.

I met a friend here for lunch. It is one of those places which would become a regular haunt if it were closer to my house, but I don’t love it enough to go out of my way for it. The portions were large enough to give me that lovely«Mmmm, just finished lunch and can make it to dinner» with out feeling lethargic, which is always a plus. The side salad was a nice change from the usual chips sandwhiches cone with. It really helps one to not feel quite so bovinesque when you polish off everything. Also, mad props to the cute little waitress with the pink highlighted hair. It is always nice to see the counter-culture represented in fun restaurants.

I wasn’t aware of the existence of this little place until i was told to meet someone for lunch/coffee today. Tucked up a little side road in blackrock, its location didn’t seem to deter business,. nice bustling lunchtime trade. They have gone for the cutesy pastelly oil cloth, vaguely sexy-ed up Laura Ashley look. Comfy though. Great staff, just perfectly friendly and chatty, nothing too much troubly, imagine they actually seemed to like being there! Coffee came quickly and was pretty good actually, and i am a royal pain in the ass about coffee… The pour might have been a little long but it was definitely a decent aul bean :) Menu arrived produced by ever charming floppy haired waiter… I am on one of those boring no carbs no sugars thing(medical not vanity!) at the moment, so i dread normally asking for something off menu you can feel the eyes rolling from the kitchen generally but sure enough, a perfedtly cooked, perfectly seasoned chicken breast arrived on a generous rocket and parmesan salad dressed lightly with lemon and olive oil. exactly what i ordered. For a small backstreet café, they did bloody good! Everyone was happy with what they had and it hummed of happy kitchen, happy staff, happy customers. Only downsides were the chairs were sorta like kids school chairs and were not exactly comfortable. The Mellow fig, Kinda hate the name but loving the place!
