The Midway is one of the only independent newsagents left in Dublin. It’s not the best stocked, or the most modern, but the staff are always friendly, and they sell old-​skool things like Mikado biscuits, penny sweets and Roy of the Rovers bars (remember them? Horrible florescent yellow bars with a tang to make you wince, but the thought of them still makes my mouth water).
They do a roaring trade from the Newpark School students on their way to and from Seapoint Dart Station, and as one such customer for six of my teenage years, it holds happy memories for me.
