I like the American style that Captain America can offer you. The music is cool as the place itself. The service is really friendly, good manners. I liked it. The tumble were I seat was really big. One big table just for 2 lively. I recommend to go for the main course without the starter, as the portions are huge. Yeah I definitely recommend it!

Service was fast and friendly, and they didn’t east anytime getting my food to my table. The burger was thick and was juicy… but just OK when it comes to flavor… add a little salt to it! The fries were nice and crispy and the shake was thick but still able to use the straw.

Place is peculiar and brings you a little of American style(if this is actually that style) with their furnitures and food. I finally got here yesterday because you need to try it at least once in your life. They several branches but it is more convenient for me this one in Blanchardstown. As I said before, the first thing captivate your mind is its style. That sort of American Diner with music, framed pictures on the wall and of course, the unmissable Juke Box :-) We had starter, main, beer and a after dinner cocktail as we had to use 60 Euro voucher we bought only. This gave us the chance of trying almost everything, except the dessert, but we were stuffed after our burger. For starters we got: Mozzarella breadcrumb sticks and Bruschetta. All with a tiny decoration of salad. Bruschetta is 2 slices of garlic bread with chopped tomatoes on top and herbs. It is actually nice and tasty. Mozzarella Sticks were nice too and the strawberry(something) dip was actually a good match. For Hamburger I got the Smooked one with BBQ Sauce and fries. The hamburger was ok but not amazing. Meat was cooked but was too hard to cut. Probably it is the American way to cook hamburgers. Tomatoes and salads into the burger was not suffice. Bun was nice and well toasted. On the overall the hamburger was nice but not amazing. BBQ sauce was nice. Before I forget, if you like weiss beer, they serve here Paulaner on draft. Talking about the staff, they are really friendly and accommodating. If you come in the restaurant and you have to wait for your table, you can opt to go to the bar and drink something while you wait, this is nice because in other restaurant you have to sit or wait in front of the entrance. In conclusion, Captain Americas is that kind of place you need to try at least once when you are in Dublin to have a grasp of Americana Style and food experience

Gone here a few times for team lunches with work. Have also been a couple of times for cocktails after work :) They do a lunch special which is € 9.95 for a burger and a drink. I always go for the Cajun chicken burger and that usually comes with fries or a salad. Today I substituted for sweet potato fries — these were v well cooked! Huge portions, decent service and the cocktails are always good. There is a TGIs not too far away but you should try here if you’re looking for a slight change!!!

Much more modern than the city centre counterpart. Very lively place with a cool bar. Service is always excellent here and there are endless deals and vouchers for meals. Very good choice of drinks on the menu too. The only issue is the food is not fantastic. It depends what you get maybe. I had lasagne with baked potato– just about average. Burgers probably a safer bet. Meringue sundae for dessert is just fantastic though. Love the chewy bits! Good place for a lively night with a group, but maybe not if you on a date or really into your food.

I loved all the posters and photos all over the place! The staff were super friendly! … I thought the service was very very slow. I think it’s ok if you are with friends having some drinks and you don’t mind waiting. Our drinks came a while after the starter. the portions are huge, impossible to eat and lick the plate after haha! Forget it! «So maybe it’s good for sharing?» I enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the mozzarella fingers. I don’t think it’s my type of place, I’m not thinking in coming back but… you never know…

I went there on a Saturday at lunch time. While all other restaurants were packed with people, Captain Americas was half empty. The staff was friendly, the burger had the usual average taste. So far, so good. A waitress came with a second beer, which I did not order, she offered it for free. 2 stars. I refused it. To wait for a staff member in order to wait for the menu might be acceptable, when all staff members are busy. They were not. At the end I had to go to the waiter in order to pay! This was a very poor experience. I complained at the till. That was my second at last time at Captain America’s in Blanchardstown!

I love these kind of restaurants. In particular though Captain Americas. I love the nostalgia that comes with ordering a coke float or a knickerbockerglory. But in particular, in comparing this restaurant to ones of a similar style, I love the price of Captain Americas. Having been to a competitor restaurant of theirs recently(which we wont mention, but we will say that it’s named after a certain day you might Thank God for said day arriving) & they charged us so much money for 2 mains, 1 dessert &2 drinks that we have sworn never to return. Absolute rip off for a poor quality. Anyway we went out to Captain Americas to try their new hot dog menu & we were not disappointed! What was a little disappointing was that their milkshake machine happened to be broken the day we were there but it’s one of those things really that’s unavoidable! The hot dog was delicious! I think the one I had was called a Junk Yard Dog, which just meant it had everything on it… Mmm to die for, Could do with another one now. The other half had a bowl of Chilli which was fine, but the rice was overdone & dry so it all stuck together. We also had a pitcher of beer while we were there. And for all that it came in under the € 50 mark(a massive reduction as compared to what we paid at aforementioned competitor restaurant). We’re one of those couples who when we find what we like we stick to it. For example we have a certain usual spot we go to depending on whether we want chicken wings, bbq, a burger, nachos etc. I can now add Captain Americas to that list for it’s hot dogs. Delish!

place was busy which on a bank holiday Monday is expected. Waited to be seated and had a pint while we waited but couldn’t help feel we were in a holding pen like cattle with all the other customers… when we were shown to our table we were ready to order. I went for steak sandwich with chilli fries. The steak sandwich was nice but not amazing, the texture resembled a pork chop meaning it was a cheap steak and tasteless, a bit small and in a roll that resembled a small subway roll I would have preferred a ciabbatta, the fries were plentiful but the chilli was awful really really tasteless… the service was OK were left waiting 15 mins for another drink which in the end we left and asked for the bill the drink order went unnoticed… the toilets are miles away from the dining area which is a pain and to be honest I was just glad to go. I really think Captain americas need to revamp their venue a little when you first read it all you see is a massive menu with such selection but from having their burgers before I went for steak sandwich and was as disappointed with it as I have been with the burgers here… In today’s culinary climate with everyone offering a «great«burger, wings etc I think its time the original trendsetters Captai americas need a revamp of their menu because it tastes stale

What do you want with your chips is the motto here. On Wednesday last I ordered something that wasn’t with chips which was kind of difficult. I had the chicken wings with barbeque sauce which were ok and there was plenty in the portion to share with my daughter who left with a big red mouth! They had a special deal of two courses for € 15 and while I didn’t order anything from that others at my table did and they left stuffed! stuffed full of chips that is and huge burgers if you like that kind of thing. I also had a baked potato with my dish which was very nice and fluffy and it was nice to have a healthier option on the menu that wasn’t a salad. I would prefer though if the baked potato was larger and could come as a main course rather than just a side dish as it was hard to order a main meal that wasn’t the usually burger fare.

Captain Americas is a cookhouse & bar and they do what they do very well. It’s the only cookhouse style restaurant in Dublin that I go back to again & again. They do offers if you’re with O2 and have priority moments. They also have offers for students. Generally these offers are something like buy a main meal & get one free etc. I normally get their chicken fajitas which come out on a sizzling plate and are served with your choice of chips, baked potato or salad. It also comes with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. I normally get them with fries as their fries are really good. On my most recent trip I decided to try their lunch menu. You get to choose from 5 or 6 main options and again you get to choose baked potato, fries or salad to go with it & you also get your choice of a soft drink, bottle of beer or a glass of wine all for € 10! That’s excellent value. I went for a cheeseburger with fries and a diet coke. I also got a half portion of chicken wings for an extra € 3 so in total it cost me € 13 which you couldn’t argue with. As usual the food was piping hot, the wings were very tasty(you can pick your choice of sauce). I went for hot sauce on mine and would’ve liked a bit more sauce with them but that was just a minor fault. My burger was very tasty but I felt it could do with some pickles on it. Pickles I know are divisive — you either love them or hate them. I’m in the ‘love them’ camp and in my opinion a burger isn’t right without them! Again that’s just down to preference and minor. Captains does be mental on weekends with families and kids. It’s a firm favourite for birthday parties and it’s easy to understand why. Nearly every time I go here ‘Happy Birthday’ is heard at a nearby table. I try to avoid it at weekends because it gets so busy. You get better specials during the week anyway. Their staff are always friendly even though they seem to be a bit stretched– I always get the impression that the place is a bit understaffed and they’re under pressure. All credit to them for still remaining courteous & maintaining a good level of service. I’d definitely recommend captains. Good burgers, great chips, fabulous fajitas, impressive special offers and their chilli is probably the second best in Dublin after my own homemade chilli!

This restaurant looses 2 stars. 1 for service regarding reservations. They take reservations over the phone however when you get to the restaurant you always have to wait a minimum of 10 minutes before being seated. It has also happened more than once that our reserved seats were taken by someone who«gave our name» so they thought it was us. This waiting around an messing about really isn’t a great start to the evening. The second for food. The food is exactly what it says on the tin. I usually order a pizza or the cod and chips which are delicious. Everything else is either overcooked, too much batter, too much cheese or not worth the money. The desserts however are to die for. Profiterole cheese cake is heaven! So that has a star all for itself! The atmosphere is great, brilliant décor which gives itself another star. And the final star goes to there tower. You can order this epic tower with either beer or a cocktail an share a drink each with 6 ppl easily. Pick your beverage wisely however! There’s a lot of it! :)

bad burgers The venue is ok, close to the Dunnes Store where there is a huge free car park. Decoration is US style with lots of star pictures. Waitress was friendly but quite slow I was very disappointed by my burger. The fries were overcooked and the meat was dry and tasteless. Such a burger I could have done for less on my own at home ;-) Adding to this, the noise level is quite high in the evening and you might have kids running around.

I love Captain Americas and this has the added benefit of the location! Based in the shopping centre there is plenty of parking available. This is a brilliant venue for the odd treat and especially for kids! Décor made a 4 year old very happy with all the superhero stuff… the menu is your typical diner type food but they do have health options such as baked potatoes and grilled chicken.

I ended up getting sucks into Captain Americas with a few friends for a late night bite. This wouldn’t be my choice for a dining establishment as I prefer local, non-chain restaurants(but that doesn’t always work out). Strolled in at about 10pm on Thursday night and surprisingly, this place was packed. It must be that the Captain kills it with € 14.95 all day, any day for your choice of starter and main or starter and dessert. You definitely get your moneys worth for how much food you left. I was stuffed when I left and didn’t end up eating half of the food on my plate. The service was a bit slow, but it was packed so it was understandable. Our server did come over right when we were sat to let us know that he’d be over in just a few minutes as not to keep us thinking that we had been completely abandoned. Once we ordered our food, weird enough it took less than 2 minutes for it to come out which means we got our drinks after our food. Since we both ordered burgers, I was convinced that they had either been sitting up in the window under the hot lamp, drying out waiting for someone to eat them, or they had been a mis-cook from another table and had been sent out to us. I was cautious enough while eating them because no burger takes 2 minutes to make. Two minutes is no exaggeration, I’d even say 1 minute, 30 seconds. The burgers were out before I could have walked from my table I was seated at, to the front door and back to my table. Although I was weary of the burger, still enjoyed it. When it came to dessert I was disappointed when it took almost 10 minutes to make a sundae and our mains took only 2 minutes. Could have done without the sundae as I was full off of half of my entrée. I believe they had crazy drink specials going on that night, not sure if they have drink specials on all night. I can imagine that accounted for a bit of why it was so hectic at 10pm on a Thursday night. My opinion, okay food, mediocre service but what do you expect for € 14.95. I’d be back if I was forced, but not out of my own free will.

Really like this place! Great location and general atmosphere when you’re actually there. The food is alright, I’ve had better but I’ve also spent a lot more! Nice touch with having the bar area too and a night club upstairs, not many places offer that in this area. Good selection of food too, so it can certainly pass for a family and even a work night out place! Only one issue really, was once left waiting over an hour for a steak, it did only happen the one time tho so haven’t hesitated to come back and give the place another go!

Best place in dublin… Great student deals Mon-Wed. Best food around, espcially the lunch menu, and also the students 2 for 1 card they receive. Great beers on tap, a great selection of bottled beers and ciders. Some delish cocktails. I always go here… havent been to the Captains Live but will be soon.

Service was really slow, and the food was good, expect for the fact that with my entrée I got a side salad(to try and be healthy after getting jalapeño poppers and a veggie burger) which was COVERED in dressing. I should have asked for it on the side, but I didn’t think every single piece of lettuce, spinach, onion would be smothered in dressing. The jalapeño poppers were the best I’ve had in Dublin, and the veggie burger is pretty good for a chain restaurant. Also, I got my poppers before we got our drinks… weird!

Happy hour is no longer :( I guess the affordability and promotions were an introductory special, double sad smiley :( 1 star down because there are no halfs(I’d do 3.5, the price was a Strong selling point). Staff is still nice & restaurant is clean
