Great variety of sandwiches and salads, also good for a late weekend breakfast. Gluten free bread available and vegetarian and vegan options are a big hit with me. Love their vegetarian and vegan club sambo’s and goats cheese salads. Tasty tasty tasty!!! Staff are friendly and helpful too.

Betelnut Café, in Mermaid Arts Centre, has one of the best lunch menus in Bray. It serves the usual sandwiches, paninis and wraps but the fillings and the presentation are rather more creative than your usual sandwich bar. No egg mayo here! Expect ‘gourmet’ fillings such as pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, carmelised onions, olive tapenade, humus etc. The meals are filling and flavoursome and the menu offers some really tasty vegan and veggie options, including a yummy layered veggie special!
Betelnut is packed at lunchtime so you might have to wait for a seat and maybe a little longer than you’d like for the food. It’s not cosy but it’s bright and modern and there is a tiny play area for all of those tear-​away toddlers. It also serves pre-​theatre and interval drinks at Mermaid performances.
