I can not say enough good things about this pub/​restaurant in Cappamore, Limerick.
I recently spent 8 days in Ireland and this was my «local» hangout. The food is excellent! Delicious, perfectly cooked meals with all the traditional Irish eats — grass-​fed beef, chicken and pork with seasonal vegetables and of course, mashed potatoes. The food was certainly the draw to this pub in the beginning of our stay… a random selection for restaurants in the area. but, the food is not what kept me coming back.
Mr. and Mrs. Hayes, the owners and operators of this establishment, are incredibly friendly, welcoming people. They took care of us! As Americans in a foreign land, they recognized that we were unfamiliar with how things are done in Ireland. During the week, the restaurants shut down around 430p making it almost impossible to find food in the country villages. On several occasions, they extended the dinner hours for me and my traveling companion and on one occasion, made us a dinner off-​menu especially for us even when the restaurant had closed for the evening.
J. Hayes Pub/​Restaurant is special indeed. The food, the people, and the welcoming atmosphere of home is something that I have never experienced in all my travels abroad.
