I have been few times and it is one of my favorite places in the area. It is beside the Visual Centre for Contemporary Art and The George Bernard Shaw Theatre. Very cool inside and with a nice staff working in. They have a good variety of meals and an Early Bird Menu that is good value for the quality of the food they serve. The soups are brilliant and they are intrepid in some of the dishes they offer. For instance I had monkfish with a nice risotto beside that was delicious. Another little masterpiece they prepare is the butternut squash, spinach, chickpea and goat cheese filo parcel, a vegetarian option really tasty. They use products from different parts of the east part of Ireland and you can see them written down on a wall near the kitchen. It is a nice touch and very important that they promote the area where they are located. Desserts like the pana cotta, very nicely done and a light option, and the homemade fruit crumble are worthy to taste. I recommend the place. It is also an opportunity to enjoy a cultural day with a nice meal.

One of the nicest places to have lunch in Carlow. The place is nice, staff is friendly, food is nice and fast(if you order the specials), prices are not bad. I’ve only been here for lunch and I always have the specials. I’m not sure if they’re open for dinner. Don’t dress in rags if you’re coming here, people are in suits and dressing at least smart casual.

Soooo … not one of my usual rants of fancy, simply cos I’m swamped, but, will come back to it! … if you are around Carlow during the day and need a nibble, strongly consider calling into Lennons @ the Visual. There is tons of parking around the back(dont forget to pop your pennies in the meter) but go early to ensure a good seating position. Dont bother with the menu — look up at the glass mirror/wall thingy to see whats best for the day. My recommendation is to go for the vegetarian options — I’ve done it the last few times I’ve been in and havn’t been dissapointed once. Great value, service can be a tad slow, but to be expected because they are *swamped* with(very very well deserved) custom every day! Prices are fair, ambiance excellent, hygiene top notch, food always brings a smile to my pallete — I kind of expect excellence now every time I go there! Check it out, worth a visit, and afterwards, take a wander around the amazing Visual Arts centre the joint is attached to.
