I like this place. The food was pretty good. And it was very well priced. I ended up getting a hamburger. It was delicious. It had bacon and onion rings and it had a great flavor. I would order that again Anytime Anyplace. With that said, I did see the creepy owner. Nothing like having a sex offender in your midst. I would come back here again. Castletownbere is a nice town and the beara peninsula was wonderful.

During a recent stay in Castletownbere, our family found this to be the only place serving food after 5:30. Thankfully, Murphy’s proved to be outstanding. There were many menu and specials to choose from and everything was wonderful. Our family included seven and all found something they were happy with. We also found the price to be very reasonable.
Please note they do not have beer on tap, but did serve wine and bottled beer. They also do not accept credit cards. We found the restaurant to be charming and bright. All plates came with a variety of steaming hot fresh vegetables, delicious.

If you are in Castletownbere and are looking for a place for great food in a restaurant that is family run then look no further than Murphy’s. The proprietor, John is a gracious host and one heck of a pastry chef so be sure to try the deserts. His son is the chef, at least the night we were there, and created several fresh entres. Our group ordered two fresh salmon, one fresh white fish (forgot the name) and chicken Kiev. All were great. Did I mention we had a great desert!
I can recommend this restaurant without reservation.
