Cavan Crystal Hotel

I stayed here last weekend with two friends for a little girls weekend. I left it up to my friend to pick the hotel so I went in blind, not knowing what to expect and I can say I was extremely impressed. When we arrived, we had a cup of tea and some lunch in the bar. The food was lovely and extremely reasonably priced. I had a chicken ciabatta sandwich and tea which only came to € 10 and the sandwich was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. After our leisurely lunch, my friend went to have her brows done while the other two of us used the leisure facilities. Steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, pool and all the work out equipment you could dream of. It wasn’t too crowded which was also a bonus.
After a few hours relaxing, we went back to the bar and sat out on their lovely patio and enjoyed a few drinks. The afternoon ran into the evening and we made our way to the hotel’s restaurant for a 3 course meal, included with our stay. The minute I laid eyes on the menu, I was in heaven. Too many choices and all good choices. I opted for the mushroom risotto, sea bass and lemon tart for dessert. Everything was so perfect from the vibe and ambiance of the restaurant to the service and most of all, THE FOOD. Everyone at the table got something different and there was not a complaint in the house. We left with full bellies and a bottle of wine. After dinner we strolled back into the bar where they had a live band.
Our stay was perfect and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. The service was spot on, the food was even better and the location was great. Only an hour and a half from Dublin and about 2 km outside of Cavan city centre, you could not ask for a better hotel or a better location. I will certainly be back for another girls weekend!

The Cavan Crystal Hotel is a great advertisement for Cavan town! It’s conveniently located on the Dublin Rd, making it an ideal pitstop or overnight stop for those driving a long distance. The hotel has ample free parking facilities close to the front door — this may seem like a no brainer but I have encountered hotels where this is not the case.
It is also a lovely place to go for a few days R&R. The reception area is bright, airy and staff are very friendly. I have stayed here on a couple of occasions and visited many times. I have also attended events in the ballroom and I have always been very impressed.
The lobby is one of the nicest I have seen in any hotel. The glass ceiling, sound of flowing water and lovely couches make it an ideal setting for reading a book or just relaxing. Also a popular location for taking photographs — I attended a press launch here and photos were excellent.
The bar is also very pleasant. It is located at the front of the hotel just inside the door. Loads of seating available and has a very homely feel to it. Food is good — tea, coffee, soup, sandwiches. It’s a great place for a meeting or interview, and I have availed of it for both.
My bedroom was top class each time I stayed. Very clean and modern, which I like! Bathroom was spotless. The room wasnt too warm either — a pet hate of mine is waking up in the middle of the night and feeling like you are in a sauna, which is often the case in hotel rooms.
I must admit that I slept through breakfast so I can’t comment.
The gift shop is also v impressive — selling Newbridge jewellery, kitchenware and you guessed it… Cavan Crystal. :)
Lovely hotel and definitely worth a visit the next time you’re passing by!

I stay in hotels on average 3 times a week. This is one of the nicest I have ever visited. Everything about the experience was top notch. The building is impressive from the outside. The welcome at reception was very warm and friendly. The interior is even better than outside. A very plush hotel at a reasonable price. The furnishings are to a very high standard. Breakfast was excellent. Even the rate was good. It’s hard to find fault with this one and I shall be going back

One of the better hotels in Cavan, the Crystal is conveniently located on the Dublin Road into Cavan town. The décor is contemporary, with a particularly impressive entrance lobby. There’s also a satisfying, if slightly pretentious restaurant, a cosy bar and a large gift shop selling a sparkling varirty of crystal gifts. It’s everything you’d expect from a four star hotel.
