Super tasty food and the friendliest staff around as well. Great value and go out of my way to get Chinese from here as I’ve moved and not in delivery area anymore!

I’d never heard of Flames until recently(I believe it replaced an Italian restaurant) but as the population of D15 are fairly starved of good places to eat it’s always nice to find a new one. We booked a table for 8 as a mini celebration for my mother’s birthday(I won’t say which one lest she one day find this post and kill me). The lady on the phone asked if it was a celebration when I booked, but fearing mother’s wrath I said no because if they brought out a cake it probably would have ended up on my head. Good to know if you have friends or family who are ok with that sort of public embarrassment, or not and you just don’t like them. For food I chose the curry puff for starter(looked like a samosa) and the honey black pepper beef for main. My sister went for the coffee ribs which was on the new menu of dishes the chef had just recently added. I’m not a fan of coffee but I tried a bit and it was a really usually taste, not overpowering bitter but you definitely could taste coffee. My starter was lovely if a little on the small side compared to everyone else’s giant plates of chicken wings. My main was ok, it could have been hotter(spice wise, not the temperature) and the beef was slightly tough for fillet. The chicken dishes everyone else ordered looked great so I think next time I’d go for that. The dessert menu was fairly standard with the exception of deep fried ice cream. I went for some movenpick sorbet as it was a bit lighter. Two of our party were twenty minutes late as one wasn’t feeling well but the staff were very patient and let us browse the gigantic menus at our own pace. For a Saturday night the place was fairly quiet, just a few other tables occupied other than our own, I would still book ahead though. It’s a very small restaurant that could accommodate no more than about 30 people. The staff are very good, attentive, friendly, and one of them spent a good ten minutes recommending dishes to some who wanted spicy but not too sweet and so on. Everything is reasonable priced, and for the whole table(including several bottles of wine) it all came in at less than 300. They do have an early bird menu but we were too late for it. One thing to note is if you’re after a quick bite to eat, this is not the place to come. They take their time but that was exactly what suited us. Try the delivery menu if you want your grub in a hurry.

Flames is a nice little Thai Restaurant with a cosy atmosphere, great service and a good menu selection. If you want to catch a bargain, this place offers lunch menus from Sun — Thu and Early Bird Menus Fri & Sat. My fav dishes are the Thai Tom Yam Soup(deliciously spicy), the chicken skewers(yum yum) and Phad Thai(you have to have Phad Thai when you go to a Thai Restaurant, and this is a good place to experience delicious Phad Thai). Overall this is a great place for a relaxed evening and some yummy Thai Food without the hassle of having to drive into town and back.
