My wife hadn't been out for a couple of years due to covid and other illnesses. We were both hungry for fish and it was a Friday. We had gotten the all you can eat fish from here a coupl6of years ago so decided to get some lunch there. The fish was bad, more breading than fish. It used to be a great spot. We won't return.

This place is adorable. We wandered in when we had 45 minutes to kill in this tiny little town on our way to Kylemore Abbey. It didn’t seem like a single person was awake or a single business was open and we finally found The Hungry Monk, which was surprisingly crowded. On our vacation to Ireland we decided to eat as many scones and drink as much tea as we could, but it was the best here. Wish I could go back!

What a gem of a café in Cong. We were passing through and stopped for some lunch. I had the tomato and wild garlic soup and a pastrami and cheese baguette with mayonaise. Everything was delicious. The staff were also very friendly and efficient and its so rustic you just feel relaxed. Add the location of the beautiful Cong and its a must visit if you are nearby.

This is absolutely the best food we have had on our two week trip to Ireland! Stays very busy, but if you have to wait… do! It is well worth it! The apple/berry crumble and pastrami sandwich are both divine! The service is very fast and friendly. This is our second day to return for their amazing food!

Food — 10 stars Service — 10 stars Décor & Cleanliness — 5 stars Everything is fresh, homemade, and delicious! John, the owner/server/cashier was incredibly accommodating as my dining requests changed from take-out to dine-in. The menu changes for seasons but whatever John’s wife cooks up is going to be amazing. After your day at Ashford Castle be sure stop at the Hungry Monk. My only complaint: have some better pastry boxes on hand. The carrot cake cupcake with mascarpone frosting got tossed around inside the giant brown bag. Totally minor complaint for what was otherwise an incredible lunch.

Nice little restaurant with good salads and sandwiches/wraps/paninis. The waitresses are friendly, but the decoration is not very lovingly and the room is very small. But it is good to have a snack after the visit of Cong Abbey or Ashford Castle.
