The Acton Lodge in Cork City was nice and neat. It was the biggest B&B I’d ever stayed in and it seemed to be the norm on Western Road. The location is pretty good actually. We weren’t interested in sight seeing in Cork, it was just close to other stuff we wanted to see, so I have no idea what we missed due to our location. Actually I loved where we were. There is a park with play equipment behind the house where our son could run around and burn off some energy. There was a nice path to walk by the river through neighborhoods and shops. Then we were about 15 minutes away from The Fanciscan Well Brewery. How lucky is that?! The host couple Dominc and Una were super friendly and chatted us up. Una gave us some local backstory to the current family afffiliated with Blarney Castle. The room was a family room with a double and two single beds, a couch a chair and tv. The bedding was crisp and white. The bathroom shower had instant hot water and great water pressure. The breakfast was first rate. You could have cereal, or yogurt and compote, juice, coffee, tea and tons of toast. Una bakes tasty mini scones — yum! It was a good price and a good choice for us to stay here.
