Honestly… It’s 2.27am and I am writing this… It’s a great bar ruined by terrible staff… Even on New Years… I have prob gone to the bar ten times and 8 times the wrong order! Really We ordered 2 bottles of prosecco and they said no! If I was the owner the staff would be gone… The reason for the no? They had to give out free prosecco! Really that’s what happened… Good vibe here and a nice bar but the staff are brutal

I have only one thing to say: Sunday brunch!!! Expect a crowded pub and a bit of wait though, as this is probably the best brunch you can get. It quickly became my Sunday routine though.

The best brunch in Cork where you can enjoy some wonderful eggs royale and special pancakes in sweet surrondings. Every first friday of the month, you can grab a beer and enjoy some free pork cooked in front of you. The smell, the atmosphere, the perfection. Bonus: waitresses are really reaaaaally nice. One of the best spot to eat in the city.

Not my kind of bar at all. It is not in the city centre so you will have to walk a bit to get here and dangerous as the roads are not the safest. I work close to the bar and have been here on a couple of occasions with my work colleagues and I just did not like the vibe in here on all of the occasions I have been here. I try to avoid coming here if I can. I have heard from a few people that the food served here is very nice but have not tried it myself.

Nice mix of ages and social backgrounds in the Sextant. We go for brunch on Sundays as well and the breakfast selection is great and is good value for money. I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to bars. I like two things to be consistent: 1. The quality of the pints and 2. good service. The Sextant is lacking in both. standards are ok but nothing to write home about. On the plus side its a good venue, there’s always a nice vibe in there and they give away plenty of free food at the weekend. That said unless you lve over that side of the city it doesn’t really justify the walk over there.

This bar emerged from a dust piled coffin a couple of years ago and firmly replanted itself as one of the best bars in Cork. I spend New Years Eve in here this year and I was delighted how well they coped with a packed pub full of revellers. They even had a member of staff standing on the bar playing live violin to the music(which I have been told is a regular occurence). On arrival we were greeted with beautiful beef wellington bites and a champagne sorbet(there was definitely plenty of champagne in the sorbet. fizzzzz). It was even easy to get a drink from the bar and considering the actual amount of people in there, it was a miraculous feat!
