If you are in Dalkey, you need to try this place. The staff is lovely and they were particularly happy last time I was there(wondering why — the good weather maybe?) Anyway, it is a small place but plenty of options in the menu. I usually for the carrot cake but this time they only had a single piece of cake left and it seemed… not good. So instead I had a cranberry and oat cookie. So good. I ordered extra cream just because it was fresh — I saw one of the staff preparing it. The menu is also on the wall. Wifi password is also there.

Very slow service. The sandwich we ordered was like a packed one. not nice and expensive for what it is. My friend and I expected much more out of this place with lots of bridge stone awards at the door. I can’t recommend it.

Just had a fabulous breakfast of poached eggs, rashers and homemade brown bread. Only small complaint, which I have with most restaurants in the area, is that they use low grade/cheap teabags that results in weak tea. The high quality of the food and the service more than made up for this.

Was I expecting too much from IdleWilde Café? I was looking forward to walking in Ross O’Carroll Kelly’s footsteps and discover this place… and it really didn’t live up to expectations. Décor? Nice gray designery walls and ornaments. ruined by the open kitchen that runs along the whole length of the café; the mish mash of stainless steel and juice counter looks more like a food court than a café in what is one of the most desirable –if that’s even a word ;-) — part of South County Dublin. Food? Plain and not particularly tasty. There were 8 of us and I can’t say that I found anything I saw around me appetising. My ‘humongous’(as the menu stated) salad consisted in a bed of watery, tasteless iceberg lettuce sprinkled with not enough ingredients(cheap feta cheese crumbles, ugh) or dressing to make it into anything interesting(not worth € 8.50). On the other hand my coffee was nice. Around me, friend who ordered the misspelled ‘Crepé’ with nutella liked the nutella but not the re-heated(she felt) pancake; baked potato friend was happy enough(or polite? it didn’t look anything special); some others had the poached eggs which looked uneventful. Service was ok, we felt a little rushed but if I need to find a positive that would be it and the outdoor courtyard space. Would I go back? Under peer pressure only and I don’t expect any from this group. There’s another place down the road… Oh, sounds harsh. Going to read other reviews and hope this was just a blip.

Cheerful café bustling with locals on a Sunday morning. Simple and tasty offerings on the menu with reasonable prices to match. I opted for the«Nice and Healthy» poached eggs with relish — a yum brekkie for € 5.70. Well worth a visit if you’re swinging through Dalkey.

Myself and a friend recently had a lovely porridge breakfast in Idle Wilde café. The presentation with cinnamon and honey on the side made this a healthy super fuel breakfast, which kept us going pretty much for the rest of the day. Yum yum :)

Typical run-of-the-mill café. Nothing special that does well due to it’s location, and the sore lack of good coffee shops in the vicinity.

Food is fine but i never come here because the prices are ridiculous. Last time I was there which was a year ago a yoghurt with some fruit and granola cost me € 7+…Add a coffee and breakfast is € 10!!!

Nice café but a little pricey. It has a great location with the beach just a stroll away and in the middle of Dalkey village. There aren’t many cafés in Dalkey. so you are limited but it usually has a nice selection of papers to while away some time.

Tucked away behind the main road that runs through Dalkey is this cute little café. I just got a coffee to go but the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed — an absolute must of a place to go if you want to read or do work. I can’t judge the food but the coffee was good and the staff where extremely welcoming.

Cozy little café in Dalkey. My friend said her Chai Latte was one of the best she’s ever had and my coffee was strong. We both had the banana walnut bread and while we didn’t go…(wait for it, wait for it…) «nuts» for it, it was good! Great café overall, plus you can get Head down the street after your breakfast… I kid, I kid! It’s the name of the hair salon a few doors down. So to recap my review: nuts and head. And go try Idle Wilde Café in Dalkey because it’s awesome!
