If as much effort went into the food and drink as goes into the kitsch interior this place would do a bomb. As it stands this place is a case of what could have been. Ditch the nescafe and make some real coffee then sell sweet and savoury treats of high standard and made with love. Combine that with a rebate on some of the parking fee for those who spend more than € 20 and this could be a destination café.

This quaint little café is like an oasis in the desert. Except you’d never be too hot or parched in a forest in Ireland. Having said that, after a pleasant stroll around the woodlands and lake, all I could talk about was going for coffee. This wooden building wouldn’t look out of place in an Austrian skiing village. The décor is cute and there are inspirational signs all over the place, floral designs on the jugs and furry hot water bottles on the bar stools. The desserts didn’t look too appetising(even for me) and the barista wasn’t the chatty sort so we got our € 2 herbal teas in takeaway cups and sat outside. A fire in the centre of the outdoor area blew smoke in our direction at regular intervals but this added to the feeling of adventure, magic and general hippiness that this place emanates. As it was an extremely windy day, the tablecloth kept lifting off the table, eventually capsizing my tea altogether. With that, we shook off our daydreams of fairies and elves, and headed for the hills.
