We happened across this when trying a camper van experiment in Ireland last year. Turns out it’s an institution with a great reputation, and of course we’d never heard of it. It’s a great place, lots of rooms of varying size, so it has a slight warren like feel to it. It was Saturday night, and the place was busy, pints flowing, and food being served ask over the place. The menu is seafood centric, and on reading, you know it’s likely to be good. We had oysters to start and both had fish mains. Everything was lovely: this is hearty fresh food served in a lovely warm buzzing environment by staff who are a bit of craic. Will hopefully return one day when we’re back in Ardraha.

loved this place, was there New Years Eve and last night, May 5th. It was the Cup of Tae festival so the town was buzzing. The bar was packed as it was the last time I was there, standing room only. They had stopped serving food, but the bar owner Charlie still got us 2 toasties. The bar is broken down into rooms and there was live music in the front bar which was packed and we stayed in the main area. Get there early if you want a seat. We laughed all night and the service was excellent. We spent a lot which is good to say, as we left the last place down the street as the bartender was rubbish. Highly recommend this place and was told last night it has won an award as the best pub in Ireland and I can see why. The

My bf said he had the best mussels he’s ever had at his life at Nancy’s. We were only in town one night, but we really enjoyed the time we spent at Nancy’s chatting with the barkeep. Loved the maze of small rooms and all the interesting jugs and whatnots hanging from the ceiling.

There’s good food and fine Guinness to be had at Nancy’s. With several small rooms, old furniture and memorabilia around the place(one family has operated this place for seven generations), and a backyard garden, the atmosphere is more like«somebody’s house» than a typical pub. Nancy’s is one of the few Ardara pubs that serves food. Their menu emphasizes seafood, served pub-style. By «pub-style,» I mean that seafood appears in the form of sandwiches(example: tuna and sweetcorn sandwich); seafood chowder(served with a prawn sandwich as an accompaniment, instead of the more typical serving of brown Irish soda bread that the locals call«wheaten bread»), local oysters on the half shell, local mussels, and similar items. One of the house specialties is an open-face smoked salmon sandwich with cheese. I enjoyed all of my food selections at Nancy’s. I marked«not wheelchair accessible» on the poll for this business because the interior is full or narrow passages and steps. However, I think it might be possible to get a wheelchair into Nancy’s through the front door.

Lovely little pub run by the McHughes. Very friendly people, excellent sea food. The bar is really small, but not too small for live music! And there’s lots of room in the back to sit down and eat. Had two great nights there this year and this is definitely a place that I’ll visit again when I’m in the Donegal area.

One of the most beautiful parts of Ireland is Donegal. My wife is from this part of Ireland and even due it kills me to say it, this is probably the place that most people out side of Ireland have an image of the country, that postcard image this is it. There are lots of little towns dotted around Donegal and Ardara is one of these out the coast road. Nacy’s is in the middle of the town just round the bend and over the small bridge. This is an old public house that has lost none of its charm. There is no cash regesiter only a drawer for notes and the top of a barrel for lose change. The bar is small but you can wonder into the house and fine yourself a seat there. Nancy’s also do some wonderful pub grub with most of it being sea dishes as the catch will come straight from Killybegs. Nancy’s is a lovely wee pub but if you don’t get to it at least try to get to Co. Donegal and see Ireland as it appears on the post cards.
