My wife and I had an excellent meal here last night, I had steak medium rare and was beautifully cooked, she had seabass and equally excellent, staff very attentive and friendly and overall a great experience

First of all, the map on Unilocal is totally wrong and sent us on a 30 minute uphill walk out of the way, so I had to call the restaurant to get directions.(I should have listened to my wife!) Other reviews claimed the atmosphere to be romantic, but we both think that«romantic» requires table cloths, so Bru Bar Bistro doesn’t qualify, but it is pleasant and relaxing. The lighting, after the sun goes down, can be called romantic, and it is quiet and serene and candlelit. There are no sports on the TV, which is a welcome change in Ireland, but tablecloths would really help. The wait staff was polite and attentive, even when we started out a little grouchy because of the wild goose chase and then the fact they couldn’t make our standard cocktails. They only had one brand of vodka, Smirnoff, no Cointreau, and no olives. Nevertheless, the«classic Cosmo» was good and the Cork gin martini was ok with a twist. We had to drink our water out of small wine glasses. This added to the sense that the place lacks some fundamental basics of being a good restaurant. They also have cheap, industrial flatware. I think they need to decide their place on the classy spectrum … it’s like they want to be a higher class establishment, but are missing a few points. If they fixed those, it would be great!(Perhaps we’re wrong about their intentions, and this is where they want to be.) The rolls were very good little, homemade tomato breads. They were accompanied by a tomato/red pepper dip and a curry dip, both very unique and delicious. For appetizers, she had the fried Tipperary Brie with cranberry, which was good, but not great. I had the fish cakes and salad, which were a little bland but the Asian dipping sauce saved the taste experience. The main courses were a filet mignon, with peppercorn whiskey sauce and mixed vegetables. That was very good, done properly, and a good cut of beef, although the vegetables were too bland. We also had the chicken curry, which had too little curry to my taste, so the coconut overwhelmed it a bit. The rice was fine. Her dessert was a meringue with berries, which was OK, but not great. I had the parfait, which had too much chocolate cake and not enough ice cream, but OK, overall. All in all, a quite serviceable, pleasant restaurant with friendly staff. The price was appropriate for the quality as well. I’d return, but try some different things on the menu.

This restaurant was great, for such a posh looking restaurant it’s really affordable! I ordered soup for 4.95 and a sushi starter for 7.95 and was fully satisfied for only 13 euro, since they give bread too. My friends ordered risotto, which looked really good but the serving was quite large so they ended up taking half home. The menu is pretty diverse, from a huge list of entrees, burgers, mains like salmon, chicken dishes, stew etc., a burger menu and finally dessert! I wouldn’t say cheap but not expensive either. We all paid about 13~16 each for dinner. The atmosphere is pretty classy and romantic with the dim lights, red chairs and candles, so it’s quite formal dress. There’s also a bar and a good cocktail and drinks menu. The service was excellent. The girl tending to us was really attentive and checked up on us ever so often. By the way, we came on a Monday evening so it was reeeaaaally quiet, like us and 5 other people. I’m sure it would be more lively on the weekends, which I’d say would be a better time to go. But Drogheda is pretty small and quiet in general. Overall, nice atmosphere, good service and affordable.

We stopped in here absolutely STARVED after a long day shopping & traveling. I ordered the Chicken burger & chips. The chicken itself was cooked well, but the burger was very plain. On the menu it said it came with a Cajun mayo, no sign of this. Instead what I got was some form of very bland cheese & not much else. Luckily enough on the side were lots of finely diced peppers & onions which really saved the day for me. The chips were also about average. It was grand! But that’s all it was. Would I go back? Maybe if I had no car, cocktail menu looked unreal!
