I was excited when I stumbled upon this place… however on further inspection I just found it to be outrageously expensive. I understand that certain vintage items are pricey but when most of the items of clothing are well over a hundred euro(if not a few hundred) I lose interest. I found the staff the slightly intimidating also, and I’m not someone who is regularly intimidated.

I do not see what the big deal is about this place. It is probably the worst vintage shop in the city. it is definitely the least fun. I think that some of the selection is nice, especially the evening dresses and 50’s dresses but everything else was really underwhelming. I couldn’t believe how expensive the sweaters were, even those that were not cashmere. It just seems unconscionable to me to charge so much for old clothes. The place is basically a garage, and it is dark and depressing and not a fun at all place to shop. In addition, the sales assistants who were there looked totally and completely miserable. One was hunched over on a stool looking like she’d cried all night and the other stood at the back guarding the merchandise and eying me like a criminal. I didn’t even get to take a good look around because I felt so unwelcome. Cheer up, A Store is Born, and you could be a lot better.

Lovely vintage and second hand store that is only open on Saturdays(the owner works at London’s Portobello markets during the week, if that’s any indication of the ‘coolness’ factor of the store). This isn’t your cheap and nasty second hand shop — oh no! While browsing I found a lovely fur coat for a mere 500 euros, and a gorgeous silk scarf(with a map of Europe and vespas all over it — adorable!) for 50 euros. There are many good quality cardis on offer(at about 100 a pop they’re bound to be good brands and good quality fabrics) and also some very attractive 60s prom dresses. The rich man’s dress up store!
