I have strayed at this hotel five times. They are wonderfully helpful, so inviting, and the breakfast is fabulous! They actually care about the guest. I think this is one of the best hotels in all of Dublin. No pretension just honest to God good Irish hospitality. Close to everything. Stay her and have a ball in Dublin.

Inattentive and rude staff, no mini bar, heating didn’t work and it was very noisy too ! Confortable bed but not 100% clean(with hairs on the bed sheet), noisy from corridor in the middle of the night and the bath had been resealed and it was not finished properly. Irish hotel but no Irish staff or atmosphere !

I regularly stay at the Alexander(twice a month) and it is a comfortable, friendly hotel. It is however very quiet when there is no ‘function’ on and the bar is regularly empty(try the Ginger Man pub next door!). Be warned though: The restaurant is only open for breakfast and special functions. Guests can use the restaurant in the adjacent Davenport, which is above average, but not spectacular. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although the beds are on the softer side of blancmange… Breakfast is functional, but expensive for what is offered. The room rate has fallen drastically in the past few months, so it is now reasonable value for a city-centre hotel, close to all the places worth visiting in the evening.

I recently spent 4 nights at this hotel. The rooms weren’t cramped and were always very clean. The staff were usually quite helpful and all in all, it was a very pleasant stay. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the Temple Bar area, but after a nice dinner, the walk back is a welcome bit of exercise. If you’re looking for a decent hotel that’s not slap-bang in the middle of the party district, you could do much worse than this place. I would definitely stay here again.
