Ashfield

Good location. Bathrooms are in the room. You have to pay $ 1 for the towels. You have to put your own sheets on the bed as well and strip your own bed before leaving. The bathroom was not clean, but I’m sure it’s hard for house keeping to clean for new guests while at least 3 other people are staying in the dorms. Decent place for the price though. Would stay again.

This place is a good location as it’s walking distance. if you are a staying at hostel, this hostel, then you are a backpacker… or some weird, then walking is a must. The location of this place is great for doing walking tours on your own.
The staff that work here are pretty friendly and helpful. It’s not the prettiest or the cleanest but it gets the job done.
They do offer tours so you can opt to go with them or not. I like to do things on my own except pub crawls. Can’t go wrong.

My friend and I stayed here for three nights in May and had a lovely time. We booked two beds in a four-​bed female room but had it to ourselves the whole time! Some parts of the hostel look a bit run down, flaking paint and the like, but it was clean and spacious. The staff were very helpful and, when the printer wouldn’t work, allowed me to print all my trip vouchers (quite a few pages) in the office for free. Also the showers were lovely, good water quality, excellent water pressure, you can turn the flow on and off without adjusting the temp, and the temp did not waver throughout the shower. It was such a lovely thing to come back to in the evening.
Cons: One major complaint is that the window looked out on a busy street and the curtains, while thick, really could not block out either the noise or the lights, which my friend found disruptive to her sleep. Also took a star off because of the computers/​printers/​wireless not working properly and because they use actual keys, not key cards, which I find less secure. Also the toilet, sink, and shower were in the same room, which in a shared hostel room can be inconvenient and I usually see them separately, which I prefer. There are also no lockers in the room or readings lights in the bed, and we had only one electrical outlet to use for presumably four people.

I would stay here again if I went back to Dublin :)
It’s a hostel, so as long as you’re not expecting the nicest, cleanest hotel, you will be satisfied. As long as you’re not planning on spending most of your time in Dublin in your hostel room (who would?!), the Ashfield House should please you.
The people who work here are so friendly and helpful, and they were very accommodating and flexible with the breakfast when we had to leave for the airport very early.
It’s within walking distance of so many great Dublin sights :)
