Would be a five rating if the staff were a bit more welcoming as we came in. Perhaps they are just really busy today?

The first impression was hip and chic, and the waiting staff were very prompt and nice. The menu has a quasi-humour feel to it, with its«sorta big» section, which is the ribs which my friend ordered. They didn’t have the rabbit terrine, but had ham hock(which was part of their Dine in Dublin menu) on instead. I opted for it, and it was really nice. Others ordered the«Crispy egg w/black pudding, maple bacon, hollandaise», be careful of the egg, its yolk squirts everywhere, not much of a black pudding though. Still tasty, I heard. Another ordered chicken wings, that looked like the best value yet out of all our dishes. My main was a lamb’s pie and it was piping hot, and properly baked. It was really big as well. I have to say, my friend who chose the«Bedlam’s house slow roast baby back ribs, bbq sauce, horseradish rubyslaw, fries» looked impressive, and he wasn’t disappointed. I didn’t have dessert, but two others did, a cheesecake(small but still scrumptious and warm, the latter was a bit unusual), and a pecan pie(also yummy). There was 4 of us, I didn’t have wine but a bottle of red was ordered and a bottle of sparkling water as well. With the tea and double-expressos, the bill came to around € 40 a head(including tip). Moderately pricey, but nice meal and service in a cool, hip restaurant. And we were lucky to be seated by the window as well. Will definitely go back again.

This was my second trip to Bedlam, the first for Brunch on a Sunday, slow service but really enjoyed the brunch. Lovely décor, service was slow but as its a newish restaurant this is to be expected. The second was with friends on a Friday evening for dinner. Firstly we were waiting for an hour and a half for our food to arrive. Then my order had been mixed up. This was fine as the waitress was absolutely lovely and really apologetic. The owner came over and left shots on our table which we didn’t drink. At the end of the night the owner May asked me how everything was and I said that the food was«very slow», she snapped at me and said that we had received free drinks and in her exact words«what more did we want?». I was startled by her attitude. I told her that I wanted nothing but she had asked and I provided her with feedback and I said I was very surprised by her agressive tone. She snapped back that we wouldn’t be getting anything, she was very aggressive in her tone and to speak to customers in that way is appalling. I’ve never experienced anything like her disgusting attitude and will never step foot in her restaurant again.

Not bad, not bad at all. After wandering around the Georges Street Arcade Market for a bit, my friends and I came across this little restaurant and decided to give their Sunday brunch menu a try. I was rather taken with the décor, which erred on the side of trendy, particularly with the upstairs bit, where the wallpaper was done up to look like rows and rows of books. After we were seated at the«best table in the house» looking out into the street, my friend and I decided to order the baby back ribs and the chicken wings and split them between us. Our order came promptly, and I can say that we were both thoroughly satisfied with our selections. The ribs were tender, with the meat slightly falling off the bone(always a good sign). I was particularly a fan of the chicken wings, as the flavors of the sauce were reminiscent of one of my favorite takeaways back home — very tasty. Only qualms: the ribs came with a small portion of thin slivers masquerading as chips, which were limp and dreadfully boring. Would’ve liked something a little more crisp for my money. The other disappointment was how long it took to pay our check — the service had been attentive and pleasant for the entire meal up until the point that we wanted to leave, and suddenly we couldn’t get ahold of our waitress to save our lives. That was very disappointing and put a damper on an otherwise very lovely meal. But the food was quite good, so I can’t be too bummed out.
