So it was Easter and what do people do on Easter? Eat chocolate, that’s right! And what better to do just that than right at the source: the Butler’s Chocolate Factory. So I loaded the girls into the car and giggling like 8 year olds in clothes with the biggest pockets, off we went. We had pre-booked a special Easter tour which started with a short movie about… yes, chocolate… followed by the Easter bunny handing out chocolate eggs. The tour then led to the museum part of the factory which was quite informative. All along the way the staff gave out free chocolates so we left the Easter egg hunt that was also part of the tour to the small people. Next up was the factory. We didnt actually get to inside but they have a nice little set-up where you can overlook the whole production floor from a balcony. Taking pictures however is not permitted. The best part though, apart from all the chocolate sampling, was the ‘decorate your own bunny’ at the end. Each group got a plain milk chocolate bunny, a brush and some warm melted white chocolate to personalize your bunny. So much fun! This is a great activity not just for the small ones. The on-site Butler’s café sells their usual gift boxes etc at a cheaper price also. Nice!

OMG It was the best experience ever! I’ve a real sweat tooth and fussy when it comes to chocolate, my favorite is Butlers! No chocolate compares to Butlers chocolate, it’s rich, creamy and absolutely delicious! I was visiting chocolate factory with my colleagues and had such a great time, worth a visit!

I really enjoyed the tour, we were amongst 2 large groups of kids which actually added to the fun. Our guide was funny, quite witty with a dry sense of humor. At the time there was no one working in the factory as it was a saturday, which was a shame ’cause it would have been great to see it in motion. We were given lots of tasters along the way and got to paint our own chocolate elephant at the end.

I really enjoyed the tour of the factory! The tour starts with a video explaining the history of the company and shows how the family business grew and changed over the years. You are then brought around a glass walkway looking down on the factory floor. Big tables of fudge and large drums of melted chocolate is the stuff of dreams. Last on the tour you get to decorate a chocolate bunny and bring it home(the best part). I enjoyed it so much I would go again. Perfect couple of hours for a chocolate lover.

I really wish I went on any other day but a Saturday. CONS: 1. The workers are not in on the weekends. So instead of seeing them make chocolate, we watched videos of them making chocolate 2. Kids + birthday parties + lots of chocolate = SUGARHIGH PROS: 1. You get to decorate your own shamrock!(went the day before St. Paddy’s) 2. They let you try different types of chocolate along the way. I think the Butlers Chocolate Experience is geared more towards kids. I would highly recommend going in on a weekday so you can see the factory in action.

I completely enjoyed the tour, I found it interesting and fun! The kids just loved it… especially decorating their chocolate santa! We got to learn about the history of chocolate, see chocolates been made from start to finish! Every butlers chocolate made here is exported all around the world and most is packet by hand! With the amount of chocolate I ate… I wont be eating chocolate for a while(well at least until tomorrow)

A wee bit on the expensive side for the tour of the factory(12.50ea) and you don’t get enough of the chocolate to even make it worth it! when the children got to the handmaking section they held out a tray of chocolate which they politely had to take only one from or risk looking like a gutton! they did have fun though decorating their own easter bunnies and the chocolate bunnies were of much tastier and better quality than other chocolate. its great to know that butlers has been around for so long and remain totally irish and this chocolate factory in clonsaugh is the only one around! wish i worked there even for one day to get all the faulty chocolate which seems to end up in a big green box at the end of the conveyor belt!

Nice, small coffee shop that’s near a business partner of mine’s office, so a handy spot for a coffee. Their factory is also here, with tours available for chocolate fans. I was on work time here checking mail, so no tour. There isn’t Wi-Fi by the way.
