In Cassidy’s you could easily mistake that you have walked onto the movie set of Stephen Kings ‘The Shining’ when you go for a slash. Excuse the horror movie pun. The toilets are a cross between vandalism and interesting artwork… The drinks are interesting. The board games are interesting. The pizza and a pint deal for € 10 is interesting. Overall I find the pub itself interesting. As Lloyd said to Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 masterpiece«What will you be drinking, sir?» To which Jack responds«Hair of the dog that bit me, Lloyd»… This pub is a bit of a marvel with all of its oddity and curiosity, so drop on by. sure afterall… all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Some of the Craft Beers here I have yet to see in other establishments. The line up is’nt bad at all either.

This is like an old man pub that’s been transformed into a hipsters paradise. The décor is really cool, with the whole place lit with fairy lights, candles in candelabras and lit fireplaces, and sharpie graffiti littered on the walls, mismatched chairs and seats and large tables, lots of cool and funky art on the walls too. It’s all about the board games though. They have Jenga, Connect 4, Guess Who and a few other games that you can take to a table and play with friends. It’s a really fun and cool incentive to get you on and staying for longer than you may have anticipated, because you end up having such a good laugh. The music is great too, they have a wide range of genres playing throughout the evening. It’s a little pricey in terms of drinks, and limited in that they don’t serve cocktails or hot drinks. The staff are generally friendly, and they also serve food here. I think someone told me that they have a deal of a pizza and a beer for € 10? Not too bad. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. Also, UNREAL location!

I went in to Cassidy’s on a Thursday afternoon around 5 and was drawn into this place because it seemed to have a rad atmosphere. Hail Star Wars and tapered candles! Helpful bar keeps, good beer at a great price when paired with a flavorful pizza. I will be back next time I am in Dublin to not only check on my little note upon the heavily marked walls but also to enjoy a pint of IPA and garlic pizza. :)

Great deal, good pizza, good beer. 1. Pizza and beer for 10 €. Great price compared with other places. Only thing is the pizza is about a 10 inch personal pizza of which I could only eat half. 2. The beers you can get for that pizza/beer combo are: fosters, barrelhead Irish IPA, barrelhead something Amber, and the last one I don’t remember sorry… and I may have gotten the names of the second 2 beers wrong, but just know that it’s a limited selection for the pizza/beer deal. 3. If you don’t eat too much like I don’t, you’re probably better off getting the pizza/beer combo then getting a separate beer to share with someone else. 4. They don’t give takeout boxes if you don’t finish your pizza so order wisely! 5. We had the pepperoni pizza and bacon and garlic. Pepperoni pizza is what it sounds: pizza with pepperoni on it and what I think were red bell pepper slices? It was also kinda spicy but in a good way. Not too spicy, just the right amount. The bacon garlic one may not sound THAT appetizing, but it’s not JUST bacon and garlic. There were also mushrooms, onion, and some other ingredients so it was absolutely delicious. 6. I’m not much for the ambiance of the place: it was very dark with red candles and other interesting décor that made me feel a little uncomfortable, but it was fine cuz of the pizza deal! There are also games so you should go with friends and play games cuz the wait for pizzas is about 10 – 15 min. 7. Order at the counter, then they’ll bring the pizza to you. All in all, I’d definitely go back but maybe sit outside.

Deadly spot. Great music. Handy location. Perfect if you want to get away from the average pub and try something new. Bit pricey(you won’t get a pint for cheaper than a fiver), but that’s almost expected with the location

Great service in an eclectic scene. Music is clearly an inspiration for the décor! They played upbeat music that kept us entertained. Good bang for your euro!

Cassidy’s was my introduction to this new breed of bar: trendy, shabby, full of random memorabilia and selling a huge amount of delicious beers. I was first brought here on a Sunday and fell a little bit in love. The bartenders are sound, they’re well up for a chat or a recommendation, they randomly throw sweets at your head if they like you, and there loads of board games that you don’t feel the slightest bit weird about pulling out to play. Since this night I’ve been back numerous times, usually on other weekdays or during the weekend. It’s less romantic at these times; always insanely packed, full of borderline hipsters and the darkness of the bar can be a little disorienting. Still, I remain extremely fond of this bar. It seems like it has a little something for everyone; my friends with the strange music taste were satisfied by the tunes blaring over the speakers; my beer loving friends are in heaven with the great menu and the brilliant bartenders; my outsider friends love the art and random STUFF everywhere, and we even once found a comedy show in the basement that had us crying with laughter. It’s my go-to, and despite keeping an open mind to all the possibilities, it’s probably my favourite pub in Dublin. Cassidy’s I love you!

Cassidy’s is one of my all time personal favourites. It would not be uncanny to see myself and other students helplessly trying to manœuvre two pitchers of fosters around an almost toppling game of Jenga. And oh the mirth when it falls! Oh the mirth. The music would be alt rock, grunge, indie — that kind of thing. Quite loud which can make it difficult to talk, but that’s not a major issue. The décor is very home-made. Upturned wooden crates are used as a table or two and the walls are covered with writing and drawings. And they always have free sweets and crisps(thank you). It reminds me of a garage I used to hang out in except a lot warmer, more classy, beer on tap and multitudes of interesting people. Probably on my top 5 list of pubs in Dublin.

I really enjoyed this place, the pub itself is awesome, very original, I love this kind of place, that provides games for those who want, and that has great music as well. They have like 20 or even 30 different kinds of draft beers and ciders. The staff was really friendly even if they were a lot of people, they even gave us free chips, and asked us if everything was alright twice. The prices are average. The only problem is that it was pretty difficult to find a place to sit.

Great place to hang out! The music is always great, fair drink prices, really friendly staff, and board games. What more could you want from a bar? It gets pretty packed so try to get in early if you want a table. If you’re looking for a casual, fun night with a rock vibe you’ve found your spot!

I have been here twice and both times I’ve been greeted by very friendly staff. The games placed on different tables is a great way to get a few drinking games in. The décor is lovely and very original. I still have to try the pizza but I’m sure that I won’t be disappointed!

Love this pub, such a diverse mix of people. They do a nice mix of different beers you won’t find in other pubs and the pizza and a pint offer is great value. Brilliant pub to start the night.

This place is just class and is perfect if your looking to bring someone on a date and your not much of a talker. Its always buzzing with life and almost guarantees a good atmosphere ! If your concerned about making conversation with whoever it is you might have the pleasure of being out with, don’t be! Apart from the variety of bored games available to play the walls have been plastered in sheer awesomeness that will keep you occupied all night. If you like this place try it’s sister company P-Macs.

This was definitely my favorite bar that we came to in Dublin — which I realize is somewhat ironic, because it’s the least like a traditional Irish pub! No, this had more of a laid back, hipster vibe than any of the other places I frequented during my stint in Dublin. It was more Carpool than Ireland’s Four Courts, and I loved it. They have an entire basement area with comfy couches, long tables, and the bar is stocked with board games out the wazoo. Drunk Jenga? You got it. Drunk Connect 4? No problem. Drunk Trivial Pursuit? Well, I think you get the idea. Board games are like 5909328x more fun when drinking(and they’re pretty damn fun to begin with), so I really, really enjoyed hanging out at Cassidy’s. Definitely the place to go if you’re looking for just a liiiiittle variety in your nightlife while visiting, I’d say.

This place just oozes coolness, plain and simple. Décor is completely eclectic, like Emma D. has mentioned in her comment, with randomness being the central theme. At times I feel the place verging towards the hipster crowds, but generally you get a complimenting assortment of random cool folk who are friendly and willing to chat. Free crisps and lollipops are available whenever you may please, totally fab. I say the sweet and salt makes you extra thirsty and want more beer. Board games are available such as Monopoly and Jenga which are great fun to play when tipsy. Mens bathrooms are crazy as hell, like a serial killer’s lair, with red paint coating the sinks, dim lighting and random writing all over the walls — fun to read though. They have a good selection of beers, usual and non-usual types. Blue Moon being quite nice with it’s slice of orange. Didn’t think I’d find a North American lager to be appealing, but I was wrong. They also have a beer and pizza deal here which I here is good! Overall, cool, cool, cool!

My first five-star review! I was a little apprehensive about giving anything a perfect score, because, you know, there’s always room for improvement — but then when I really thought of it, I don’t know what I would actually suggest Cassidy’s do differently. This place is just so FUN. The décor is fab — sort of a cluttered, eclectic vibe, with bunting strung up around the place with pictures of chickens and super heroes and whatever. There are loads of mismatched arm chairs and flickering candles in old milk jugs, and bunches of flowers in beer bottles. It might sound contrived and hipster: it’s not. The aesthetic works really well. There’s a covered smoking section too, with the same arm chairs and décor, and a couple of outdoor tables for those really exciting 9 days of Irish summer. And they have games! Jenga’s my personal favorite. Bathrooms are simple but clean enough for a pub, with stuff scrawled on the walls and doors of all of the stalls. I kinda like that, actually — some character. Free lollipops and chips(crisps) sometimes. I’m not sure if that’s because of some special deals they run or if you can get them whenever you ask, but there you go. And the prices are good; I can’t think of what they are off-hand, so I suppose I was neither horrified nor impressed, but that’s fine. They do a € 10 pint & pizza deal, which is a frozen pizza that they heat up for you.(I wouldn’t order it, but some friends have, drunkenly, and they devoured it. It seems to be the same pizza that Lafayette next door serves with their € 10 pizza & pint deal.) It’s all about the vibe here. It’s just really, really fun — I always enjoy a trip to Cassidy’s. I’ve gone for quiet pints and for pregaming, and each time has been great. It’s always packed on the weekends and draws an enthusiastic but not too insufferable crowd. Five stars from me!
