On a budget, this place is adequate, though a nicer hotel might have made me more fond of Dublin. To be fair — two months living out of a 10×10 room can be tough on anyone. Unfortunately the building is old, so the problems of oldness — mold, uncomfortable beds, tiny rooms — are present here. The bathroom shower tiles were really bad when we first moved in, but I mentioned it at the front desk and the cleaning staff took a brillo pad and some bleach to it, and after that it was at least livable. The shower itself was TINY, and inevitable some part of my skin brushed the door every time I got in. Shudder. We were in a street-facing room — on the 3rd floor, but still, waking to the sounds of traffic and/or screaming drunk people is never pleasant. Unless you’re a cityperson. Which I am not. I regret not asking to be moved to a garden-facing room — while the karaōke and random outbursts of singing from bar patrons would have gone on into the evening hours, at least the noise subsided enough to allow for sleeping in. That being said, the staff was phenomenal, and attempted to accommodate us as much as possible, even hauling a hefty mini fridge up to our room, which was an absolute necessity. There is a kitchen/mircowave in the basement, and depending on what room you have, the wifi was decent most of the time.

I was tricked into booking this place because of the pictues and amenities they advertise. I could not have been more disappointed and disgusted by the hotel’s amenities, rooms and smell. The smoke stains on the ceiling of the bathroom of a «non smoking» room say it all! The heating broke, when there was heating. The rooms are drafty and you have to ask the front desk to turn it on and they only turn it on for two hours at a time and then turn it off. So you are freezing in the night and the morning — forget it! The girl who tends the front counter could not be more unpleasant and unhelpful! They advertise they take credit cards but their machine NEVER seems to work! The only upside is the pub downstairs is cheap and cheerful. The locals are friendly as are the bar staff. Oh!!! The location!!! It sits right next door to a sex shop!!! It is also a good walk from the city center and it is not a place you would want to skimp on the taxi back if you do go into the city center. NEVERAGAIN!

this is a nice little hotel although i have not seen the bedrooms the bar is always packed on a friday evening with karoke on a saturday evening. there is a live band called california blue every friday night and they have been there years and what they lack in modern music they make up for in familarity with their customers. Fran the main man knows everybody by their first name when they come in the door, even if they have’nt been there in years! t his man should have worked in PR! by 11.30 the oldies are always ready to hit the dancefloor although the arthritis may have them seeking a chair fairly quickly and if you like old fashioned music with the old oasis and ballad thrown in then this place is for you. they have also the cheapest pint in dublin that i know. € 3.50 for a pint of budweiser is not to be sniffed at; and that means for just over a € 10 i can leave a bit tipsy.

After reading mixed reviews about this hotel I was apprehensive about our first night in Ireland being spent here. I was pleasantly surprised! For € 35 we got a cute room in a hotel a 15 min walk from Dublin City Center(which we did 3 – 4 times that day– I would recommend trying to plan your day so that you only need to walk back and fourth once or twice). We arrive well before check-in and they were happy to hold our bags while we explored the city until our room was ready. No frills or anything special but a clean room with a comfortable bed and shower was more than enough for us. There is a pub on the first floor and we had a great time meeting regulars and watching their dancing and singing antics as Fridays are karaōke nights at Caulfields Pub. The cost, location and people made this an ideal first night in town.

Another rare home of the cheap Dublin pint, so worth your cash for that alone. It’s a very local pub but not in a threatening way, everyone is very friendly. It’s also not the poshiest of places so don’t go there expecting Dylan Hotel like interiors, but what they lack in décor they make up for in prices. And you can’t shake a stick at that!
