As a chain you would think it’s all as standard but not this store. This shop has been giving the impression of having a closing down sale for months now(without reducing the price of any of the worthwhile exercise clothes, just reducing the«fashion» items). The store is huge and mostly empty. On the plus side this means it’s clean. I often found that despite the lack of, well, stock(!) the store is still always quite busy leading to long lines. To be honest, if I was in the area I’d probably just visit one of the other close by sports shops!

I’d never really thought about tracksuits until I moved to Dublin and saw the signs barring track-suited peeps from patronizing nice bars. Apparently Champion sells a lot of tracksuits, but as they’re really not on my radar at all, I completely missed them. Champion appeals to me because of their terrific selection of athletic wear and shoes. It’s a big store, and they have apparel for everything, from rugby to yoga and everything in between. I especially liked their sports bra selections, which was extensive and they have a lot of options for larger-breasted women who want to avoid massive bouncing while they run. I’m always talking about exercising, or needing to get out for a run more often, or returning to my old habit of 500 daily crunches. I have all the gear — the shoes, the clothes, the ipod arm band and so on. Whether or not my talk and preparedness is good enough to get me out there has yet to be seen.

I was prepared to hate Champions Sports because this city has killed the sporty look. I’m so tired of seeing people in tracksuits that I was afraid to go into this shop. I overcame this fear when I saw that Champions Sport was having a 20% off Nike clothes. This brand is expensive so I was pleased with the markdown. Inside, there were some amazing offers, the best one being a Nike Baywatch red bikini for 11 euro. I was gobsmacked: the bathsuit was quite fashionable and good quality, much better than the ones in Topshop. Besides the swimwear, the shop also sells great Addidas tracksuits in bright colours like purple, red and green. I would wear one of these if I was running a marathon or working out. Contraily to my original belief, Champion Sports does have some decent sporty clothes that won’t make you look like something out of Little Britain.

Now if you are looking for a brightly coloured matching addidas tracksuit(who isn’t these days?) then get your rear down to Champion in Jervis St Shopping Centre. They have everything you could possibly ever want! Stocking all the major labels like Nike, Reebok, Puma etc they have everything from gym gear to football boots. Funnily enough I went in here a couple of months ago to buy football boots(PURELY for tag rugby of course) and I hadn’t a notion what I was looking for. Luckily, after much laughing at me, one of the male sales assistants helped me and my shopping trip was a success!
