Defence Forces Memorial

One of the many monuments of Merrion Square. This particular monument honors the Irish Defence Forces along with an eternal flame guarded by statues within the pyramid.
This is nicely lit up at night and a great focal point along the perimeter of the park. Merrion Square is filled with statues and monuments and this is one of the more visible obvious ones near the eastern side of the park.
Definitely worth seeing if you are in the area. This park particularly looks amazing when the lush green trees fill in during the summer and the flower beds are fully planted in the center of the park.

Stumbeled upon this place last week, its a memorial to Irish defence force personnel who’ve died in service. Inside the pyramid stand four bronze statues, to represent army, air corps & navy. In the middle an eternal flame burns.
Although I think the pyramid is a bit too modern a design. As a memorial I think its very effective, quite poignant and a fitting tribute to those who have died.
