An excellent establishment on Camden Street. A very good traditional pub. You can go here for a variety reasons. You can go here and just take some time on your own and not be disturbed. You can also go here for a trad session upstairs, very high quality Irish music. There’s about 14⁄15 bars on Camden Street and it’s pretty much the only bar without a bouncer because as other reviewers have said the staff don’t tolerate any trouble. Locals will assist too. As other reviewers have said the bar staff will quickly know your drink and see your nod. The pub is in the family for approx 40 years and fair play. I’ll always respect the predecessor– The Cusack Stand. It’s still much the same and known by many as the Cusack Stand. All in all a very respected pub and worth going to.

Friendly staff, very old style pub. Good pint, no frills. It’s central location. Very close to everything. Older crowd visit here. Worth a wee visit.

Upstairs, you’ll find awesome trad music(either sessions or gigs) on the weekends. Go there.

My local when I’m in town. I preferred it with the old furniture where you could see and feel the years of people enjoying some time in this pub. Now the front of the room has high stools and benches and hence high tables. I got used to it by now but still prefer a lower seat. The staff works there for years already so they get to know you and what you usually have. I simply love coming in, nodding and getting my drink. At least on Saturdays they have live music upstairs but so far I never managed to really go there as I’m usually there during the week and only the odd Saturday — then usually in a bigger group so not necessarily there to listen to music.

Grand spot for a couple of pints to kick off an evening, reasonable prices for town and I’m told the Guiness is great. However, I’m more of a Bulmers girl myself and while the pint is ok it’s not wonderful. Loos are a bit on the old and grubby side, not necessarily dirty but they smelled pretty funky(and not in the good way) last time I was here. Other customers are a mixed bunch of aul lads, couples, office workers and local aul wans and it has a friendly atmosphere so can’t fault that at all!

Not just old men in here! A haunt/stop of mine once or twice a month… and you see all types in here! Mostly locals I will agree but not all old! The bar men are old school — bring down the pint if you want and get the money off you there. Can you ask for anything more if you are weighed down with bags/folders or pints. I only went upstairs once, where the trad session was kicking off, but we soon got guilted into going back downstairs by friends down there. It’s calm, it’s quite… great way to enjoy the pint of Black Stuff!

«Jaysus Annie! And yah feckin wonder why you haven’t pulled in ages,» said the girls as they looked around the pub aghast. «Cheers girls — yee are the best!» «Look Annie! Look! They are all old men in here — like really old.» I looked at the men in their peaked caps studying their pints of Guinness and the old gal at the door with her shawl on nursing a sherry. «Who says I’m on the pull anyhow girls?!» «Uh huh.» «Bitches! I happen to love the Guinness here.» «Annie, you are such an old man.» «Bitches.»

As previous reviewers have said. Its a great old mans pub with patterned carpets and where the toasted sandwich is the food of choice. The Guinness here is quality but uptairs is one of the best trad sessions you will hear in Dublin. For anybody visiting Dublin for the weekend get up here on a Saturday night if you want to hear great genuine trad and have a great pint of Guinness. Its also then in a great location if you want to go to something a bit more modern like to Whelans or the meat market of Coppers. Ps I need to give more than just a 4 start review. :)

Great old man pub that serves a good pint of Guinness. No fancy menus, cocktail lists or frills of any kind. This pub is a place to go for a bit of banter and from time to time some trad music. They have a session every Thursday night that has some great musicians who are welcome to play one of your favorite tunes if you ask nicely.

On a night when you want a break from loud music and trendy party-crowd, Devitts is a great alternative to the rowdier bars on Camden Street. Always plenty of seats, relaxed crowd and friendly bar-staff. When Anseo has become too packed to move, or get service at the bar, and I’m not in the mood to march into the madness, I always find it nice to pop over to Devitts, where there is an actual breathing space. It’s also a perfect meeting-spot for a drink or two to warm-up before a show at Whelan’s or enjoy a post-gig pint.

Maybe it’s because I’m an old man at heart … I blame my mom for sending me out with my Grandpa when I was little, but I love Devitt’s. There’s nothing particularly amazing or noteworthy about the pub, but I always just feel really comfy, cozy and warm everytime I’m in here. It’s the kind of place that if I’m walking home down Camden Street I find myself popping into for a quiet pint or two with friends and then end up staying out for a few more. Also, in a less honourable pursuit I did come here once to fill up on pints when my American friends were visiting so that we’d have lots of liquid courage before heading off to Copper’s(please don’t judge me, my friends wanted to kiss Irish blokes and I figured this was their best option!!)

I really like Devitt’s. It’s the kind of bar where you might stop off at for a pint with a friend on your way home from work, or where you might meet up with friends before going out elsewhere. It’s really relaxed, there’s no pushing your way to the bar, just an easy drinking experience. During the day they have food and I often spy people reading the newspaper and enjoying some pub food round lunch time. In the evening it gets a bit more bumping, but as I said it’s not wild in anyway. It’s authentic, the staff is nice and attentive, and the drinks are a good price. They show all sorts of sports games, whenever they’re on and occasionally have live music on weekend nights.

Also known as the Cusack Stand, and with its loyalty usually hanging from one of the flag poles on the outside wall, this is a real Dublin pub. Great for meeting people before heading onto one of Camdens ‘trendier’ locations or just sitting back for a few scoops and a bit of banter. Pub grub is available every day of the week, which is handy, and popular enough as a lunchtime option.

Devitts is by far one of my favourite Pubs in Dear Olé Dublin. Originally it was a Gentlemans Pub. The Staff have worked there for years and are well able to handle themselves. They see trouble before it starts. Zero tolerance to troublemakers., and the locals always back them up.(that includes me), but i’m only a blown in so I never get involved. Cheapest pint of Guinness in Dublin if your looking for a cheap pint. They love all sport there. Soccer, Rugby, Golf, Snooker, Horse Racing, etc. If you fancy some head space. Devitts is the place. No one bothers you there. Great place for a first date, or to just sit and read your newspaper. A pub if you go long enough they will know your prefered tipple. They won’t ask your name, so don;t throw it.
